Structure

The Master of Professional Accounting (Extended) is designed for students who wish to obtain specialised knowledge and research skills in accounting and related areas of business. Students will learn to apply advanced conceptual and practical accounting knowledge to undertake rewarding careers in accounting and related areas of business. This course also provides a pathway for further specialised learning as successful completion of the Master of Professional Accounting (Extended) may qualify students for associate membership to CPA Australia, the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) and the Institute of Public Accountants (IPA) or provide entry to the Chartered Accountants program of the Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand (CAANZ).

To qualify for the award of Master of Professional Accounting (Extended), students must complete sixteen (16) units (200 credit points) comprising:

  • 10 Core units
  • 6 units comprising of a compulsory specialisation and electives. Students who choose the CPA specialisation will not complete any additional elective units)
must also undertake the equivalent CPA unit directly with CPA. This CPA Australia

Students who choose the Finance OR Business Analytics specialisation must also complete two additional elective units.

  • a recognised bachelor degree in any discipline or
  • a Graduate Certificate of Professional Accounting * (For students without a recognised bachelor degree) or
  • completion of the Postgraduate Qualifying Program (International applicants only)
