Swinburne Foundation Year (Science / Engineering) (8 months) is a pre-university program for international students.

It is designed to help students meet the entry requirements for first-year university or progress to a UniLink diploma.

Students will develop fundamental communication, information technology (IT) and finite mathematics skills.

They will also undertake units in physics, chemistry and science/engineering mathematics.

It can equip students for further studies in a range of science and engineering-related areas, such as civil engineering, mechanical engineering, aviation, photonics, biotechnology or telecommunication and internet technologies.

Structure

Swinburne Foundation Year (Science / Engineering) (8 months) is a pre-university program for international students. It is designed to help students meet the entry requirements for first-year university or progress to a UniLink diploma.

Students will develop fundamental communication, information technology (IT) and finite mathematics skills. They will also undertake units in physics, chemistry and science/engineering mathematics.

Entry requirements

English language requirements

Satisfactory completion of one of the following:

  • Swinburne's English for Academic Purposes (EAP 4 Upper Intermediate level) with overall 65%, all skills 60%
  • minimum IELTS overall band of 5.5 (Academic Module) with no individual band below 5.0
  • TOEFL iBT (internet-based) minimum score of 65 with no band less than 15
  • Pearson (PTE) minimum score of 42 (no communicative skills less than 36)
  • any other equivalent assessment of English language proficiency.
