Develop advanced skills in training and assessment in this dual diploma designed for experienced vocational trainers.
Through a combination of online and face-to-face delivery, including practical application tasks, you’ll cover four clusters – Delivery/PD, Design of Programs, Quality Assessments, and Evaluation/e-Learning.
You’ll gain experience in creating and delivering engaging course materials, evaluating training programs and graduate equipped with the skills and knowledge to work either within a training organisation or as an independent trainer.
Structure
This dual diploma has been designed to develop advanced skills in training and assessment for the experienced vocational trainer. The course is delivered across 52 weeks in four clusters –
1. Training Facilitation and Professional Development
2. Quality Assessment practice
3. Design of VET Programs and resources and
4. Evaluation/e-Learning.
Learning materials are available online with face to face classes to support students and develop practical skills and applications. There are a range of class options (evening, afternoon or weekend) to allow for working RTO professionals to attend.
- undertake the prescribed requirements for training facilitation and assessment
- support vocational learners (including students with learning barriers) and candidates during their course
- develop professional networks
- receive feedback from clients, peers and supervisors
- develop professional work practices
- use and extend knowledge and skills in professional work situations
- participate in validation processes (assessment tool, assessment judgements and moderation)
- collaborate, support, lead and influence other Trainers and Assessors
- liaise with clientele to conduct a Training Needs Analysis (TNA)
- develop learning programs, learning materials and assessment materials (for various delivery methods)
- engage in professional development
- evaluate training programs and implement continuous improvement
- conduct, apply and report on research
To undertake the Dual Diploma you will need to complete 11 Units of Competency. Units are delivered in clusters across 52 weeks, grouped together by topic. The clusters are: Delivery & PD, Quality Assessments, Design of Programs, Evaluation & e-Learning. The delivery consists of a combination of mainly face-to-face workshops supplemented by workplace learning (comprising of direct unsupervised and self-directed learning). The program is delivered as per the structure in the Training and Assessment calendar. In addition to supervised hours students complete 100 hours of facilitation and conduct assessment of 20 individual candidates against a total of at least 50 units.

Support the development of adult language literacy and numeracy skills (TAELLN501)
Maintain and enhance professional practice (TAEPDD501)
Design and develop learning resources (TAEDES502)
Evaluate a training program (TAEDES505)
Undertake organisational training needs analysis (TAETAS501)
Students only need to undertake 2 elective units to graduate.
Facilitate e-learning (TAEDEL501)
Design and develop e-learning resources (TAEDES503) or TAERES501 Apply research to training and assessment practice.
Students have the option to undertake the full 12 units on offer (all three electives) over the two qualifications if this assists their professional development needs. TAERES501 is a requirement for TAFE teachers to be Diploma certified.

Learning outcomes
Upon completion of the course students will have developed their skills across the four clusters. They will be equipped to work either within a training organisation or as an independent trainer. They will be experienced in a range of delivery techniques, including e-Learning. They can conduct quality assessment practice and can support/mentor other Trainers and Assessors. They can develop programs to address the needs of particular cohorts, including industry cohorts and those with LLN needs. They will have experience in creating course materials (such as learning resources, assessments and online content) that engage the learner and meet training package requirements.
