From websites and mobile apps to the internet of things and virtual reality, you will be at the leading edge of today’s user experience (UX) design world when you study with us.By taking the Bachelor of Design Computing, you will learn how to create human-centred products and services.

You will gain a toolbox of skills in visual design, digital media production, coding, prototyping and UX design.Most importantly, you will be taught to recognise and use tools that address specific social and commercial challenges and to solve real-world problems.The degree includes four design studios that focus on user experience (UX) design, interaction design, information visualisation, and interactive product design.

Through these, you will build your portfolio and be well prepared for a career in this exciting, high-growth and highly paid industry.

You can also take electives from other faculties.

For example, you are eligible to graduate from Design Computing with a minor in Information Technologies (IT).

Our independent study options, as well as the optional honours year, allow you to further develop specific skills and work on your own project ideas.

Entry requirements

Admission criteria

Admission to this course is on the basis of the following criteria:

  • a secondary education qualification such as the NSW Higher School Certificate (including national and international equivalents), or approved higher education study, including approved preparation courses.
  • English language requirements where these are not demonstrated by sufficient qualifications taught in English.

Admission pathways are open to domestic applicants on the basis of equity or other adjustment factors, including for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander applicants. For details, visit admission pathways.

Portfolio Admission Scheme for Domestic Applicants

Domestic applicants are invited to submit a portfolio of work in support of your application. The portfolio will be considered as part of your application.

Credit for previous study

If you’ve already completed university-level or equivalent subjects, you may be able to apply for credit for previous study.
