This professional certificate will advance your knowledge and develop your clinical and non-technical skills to enable you to practise in austere and challenging environments.Through case studies and discussion, you will first gain an understanding of the operational environment including scene management, retrieval transportation and special rescue settings.In the second unit you will be equipped to provide appropriate prehospital trauma care and manage critical care issues specific to different transport modes and special patient groups that are increasingly encountered in retrieval medicine.
You will also gain an understanding of equipment and monitoring in retrieval medicine.

Entry requirements
Admission criteria
Admission to the Sydney Professional Certificate in Retrieval Medicine requires a:
- medical degree from the University of Sydney or equivalent; OR
- bachelor or postgraduate degree in paramedicine or equivalent, or nursing, plus 1 year of retrieval experience.
