About

The Master of Education (Educational Management and Leadership) examines concepts in educational administration and management, from theories and models of organisational behaviour to understanding change processes and their effects on organisations.You will research a range of human resources development and management issues and their relationship to other developments in education, the economy and society.

You will develop skills in the analysis of policy developments and of factors affecting the implementation of human resources and management policies.The program allows you to evaluate alternative policies and practices, understand theories and models of evaluation and develop research skills related to the use of key information technologies and academic writing.Commonwealth Supported PlacesCommonwealth Supported Places (CSP) are available for postgraduate study for eligible domestic students.

This means that your course fees are subsidised by the Australian Government and you pay a student contribution amount (SCA).

CSPs are limited in number and are allocated based on academic merit.

Entry requirements

Admission requirement

Admission to candidature for the Master of Education (Educational Management and Leadership)requires:

  • a Bachelor of Education from the University of Sydney or equivalent qualification and either the completion of postgraduate studies, or professional experience equivalent to one year full-time in a field considered by the Faculty to be appropriate to the program of study; or
  • a bachelor's degree and either the Graduate Diploma in Education or Bachelor of Teaching or Master of Teaching from the University of Sydney or equivalent qualification; or
  • a bachelor's degree from the University of Sydney or equivalent qualification and either the completion of postgraduate studies in Education, or professional experience equivalent to two years full-time in a field considered by the Faculty to be appropriate to the program of study.

If you do not meet the requirements listed above for direct entry to the Master’s degree, you may be able to enter via a Graduate Certificate or Graduate Diploma in the same subject area and upgrade to the Master’s after successful completion of the shorter course.
