Master of Education (Sports Coaching)

The Master of Education (Sports Coaching) will equip you to apply a significant range of coaching principles and complex techniques across a wide and often unpredictable variety of coaching situations.You will acquire the capacity to:

apply professional and academic knowledge in developing and implementing effective learning experiences in the field of sports coaching examine the technological resources available to support the implementation of specific strategies in coaching athletes and teams develop an integrated model with the right mix of training activities, coaching pedagogy and sports science to optimise athletic performance.On graduating, you will be able to effectively apply the principles of planning and competently implement, maintain, assess and amend the planning process on a macro and micro scale.You will also be able to demonstrate an understanding of the processes involved in talent identification, recruitment and development.Commonwealth Supported PlacesCommonwealth Supported Places (CSP) are available for postgraduate study for eligible domestic students.

This means that your course fees are subsidised by the Australian Government and you pay a student contribution amount (SCA).

CSPs are limited in number and are allocated based on academic merit.

Admission requirement

Admission to candidature for the Master of Education (Sports Coaching) requires:

• a bachelor's degree from the University of Sydney or equivalent qualification and either the completion of relevant postgraduate studies or a minimum of two years coaching/sporting experience at an elite level; or
• Level 2 National Coaching Accreditation Scheme accreditation or equivalent and either the completion of relevant postgraduate studies or a minimum of four years coaching/sporting experience at an elite level.

If you do not meet the requirements listed above for direct entry to the Master’s degree, you may be able to enter via a Graduate Certificate or Graduate Diploma in the same subject area and upgrade to the Master’s after successful completion of the shorter course.
