The postgraduate program in sexual and reproductive health provides a diverse and inter-professional curriculum suitable for Australian and international students interested in the range of disciplines related to HIV, sexually transmitted infections (STIs), sexual and reproductive health.In this course there are four specialisations on offer.

If you choose a public health or a generalist 'no speciality' pathway all units of study will be completely online.

If you choose HIV and STIs or Pyschosexual therapy and reproductive health and fertility, these specialisations are also mostly online, however they do require a 2 week intensive face-to-face session on campus.

Both options are extremely flexible and will allow you to tailor your study schedule around your lifestyle.

Globally, the challenges of sexual and reproductive health including HIV/STIs, infertility, and unintended pregnancy continue to be a significant public health issue.

Challenges to sexual function and wellbeing also impact on the health of individuals.

Comprehensive prevention and treatment of sexual and reproductive health issues requires a thorough understanding of the psychosocial contexts in which they occur as well as the biological and diagnostic aspects of sexual and reproductive health and wellbeing.Designed by our experts, the program enables students to address these challenges head-on through flexible units that deliver maximum professional relevance and choice.

Students will have opportunities to:This course is designed for graduates from a wide range of disciplines, including doctors, nurses, psychologists, social workers, counsellors, laboratory scientists, public health officers, health promotion specialists, researchers and other allied health practitioners or students who are interested in working in the field of HIV and STIs, psychosexual therapy/sexology, sexual and reproductive health.Commonwealth Supported Places (CSP) are available for this course for eligible domestic students.

This means that your course fees are subsidised by the Australian Government and you pay a student contribution amount (SCA).

CSP places are limited in number and are allocated based on academic merit.

Entry requirements

Admission criteria

Admission to the Master of Science in Medicine (Sexual and Reproductive Health) requires:

  • successful completion of an embedded degree program (Graduate Certificate or Graduate Diploma) with a minimum credit average; or
  • a bachelor degree in a health or science-related discipline with honours; or
  • a bachelor degree plus a postgraduate degree in a health or science-related discipline; or
  • a bachelor degree in a health or science-related discipline plus a minimum of 12 months relevant work experience.

This course is also available to medical graduates as a Master of Medicine (Sexual and Reproductive Health).
