Information for 2021 commencing studentsTaking effect Semester 1, 2021, postgraduate students who wish to undertake study in infection and immunity will do so via the new Master of Biomedical Science (Infection and Immunity).The Master of Science in Medicine (Infection and Immunity) will no longer be offered to new students.
The Master of Medicine (Infection and Immunity) will still be available to those who meet the eligibility criteria (i.e.
those with an MD).Designed for healthcare professionals, the Master of Science in Medicine (Infection and Immunity) analyses the fundamental mechanisms of infectious diseases to find improved ways of combating them.
This program will help participants to increase their knowledge of infectious diseases, infection control and the immune system.The Master of Medicine (Infection and Immunity) is designed for clinicians who are looking to stay abreast of the latest technologies, treatments and techniques in the field of infectious diseases.
We also offer a master in medicine program to other health professionals.
Entry requirements
Admission criteria
A successful applicant for admission to the Master of Science in Medicine (Infection and Immunity) will hold:
- a bachelor's degree with first or second class honours in science, medical science, nursing, allied health, dentistry, veterinary science or agricultural science from the University of Sydney or equivalent qualification; or
- a pass bachelor's degree from the University of Sydney, or equivalent qualification, and completion of a minimum of 12 months research or work experience in the field of infectious disease and immunology after the completion of the degree.
In exceptional circumstances, the dean may admit applicants without these qualifications who, in the opinion of the school, have qualifications and evidence of experience and achievement sufficient to successfully undertake the award.
