Course Aims
The Graduate Certificate in Data and Cyber Management is designed for managers and others employed in organisations with a digital presence. It will enable students to enhance their competencies in the areas of cyber management, Data security, leadership and people management. The course will produce graduates who understand the importance of effective cyber management and who can successfully work with technical experts and stakeholders to make informed decisions on organisation-wide Data security culture.
Learning Outcomes
Upon completion of this course, students will be able to: understand, communicate and apply advanced theoretical knowledge in the fields of data security, leadership and people management to real world contexts; justify and interpret theoretical propositions and related bodies of knowledge to critically evaluate the resolution of business problems and recommend actions relevant to contemporary business settings; critically apply cross-disciplinary knowledge in decision making with creativity for innovation and data security contexts; demonstrate an understanding of global business challanges and key management strategies to positively influence a data mindset; work as a reflective leader and data practitioner to formulate, implement and evaluate industry-specific investigations to resolve complex professional problems and inform decision-making; communicate effectively to specialist and non-specialist audiences including multi-disciplinary teams, diverse cultural communities and business and other professional organisations; and exemplify initiative and inspirational leadership in a dynamic 21st Century work environment with an emphasis placed on consistent, ethical, and socially responsible leadership.
Graduate Attributes
Knowledge of a Discipline Graduates will have the knowledge and skills needed to address the importance of effective cyber management in any organisation, including an understanding of global business challanges, the legal and political spectrum of data security and local and globally recognised data security strategies. Communication Skills Graduates will be able to successfully liaise with various technical experts and stakeholders to make informed management decisions on organisation-wide data security culture. Problem Solving Graduates will be able to focus explicitly on culture, values and dispositions in order to effect change within organisations in regards to best cyber security practice, developing unique, multi-faceted and creative solutions reached through careful planning of self and others. Information Literacy Graduates will have developed diligent research and reading skills, as well as the ability to discern information relevancy. Information literacy equips graduates with the tools and perspectives to engage in independent and critical thinking. Ethical Conduct and Social Responsibility Graduates will have explored the ethical nature of what it means to be a global cyber citizen and will be able to reflect on various levels of online communities and explore the grey areas of data security which often fall between areas of personal privacy and public security.
