Learning outcomes

The Graduate Diploma in Education (Islamic Education) offers professional learning aligned with contemporary educational polices, standards and practices, within the framework of Islamic teaching.

The courses you will study relate to contemporary issues, and include themes of student wellbeing and managing learning environments. You will develop skills to better meet the needs, and improve the quality of education, for Muslim students.

You will graduate with foundations in contemporary Islamic theology, and in Islamic teaching across a range of diverse educational settings for Muslim students.

If you wish to contribute to research development in Islamic education, and education more broadly, you could consider continuing with a Master of Education or a PhD. If you decide to exit this program after the first four courses, you will receive a Graduate Certificate in Education (Islamic Education).

For each course you study, you will need to allocate time for various classes such as lectures, tutorials, workshops, seminars and practicals. Plus you will need additional hours to study in your own time to complete assignments, readings and projects and contribute to online discussion forums. So as a general rule, if you are studying full-time you would need to allocate 12 – 26 hours of study when at university and 14 – 28 hours of independent study per week.
