This degree is for students living and studying in Hong Kong.
It is managed by Hong Kong Baptist University in collaboration with the University of South Australia.

The University of South Australia was the first in Australasia to offer degree qualifications in aviation, and we have worked in close partnership with this industry for many years.
Working with some of the aviation industry’s most experienced people, you will learn from academics and industry experts.
They will teach you the very latest in aviation theory.
This degree focuses on aviation management, safety and law;
airline finance and operations;
and airport management.
There is one annual intake in September, and the degree is delivered over three study periods.
Students are generally expected to complete degree requirements in 12 months.
Students may attend a graduation ceremony or presentation of awards ceremony in Adelaide or Hong Kong.
The Hong Kong ceremony can be attended in the November following the standard expected completion date.

Learning outcomes
You will commence your studies with an introduction to aviation, aviation management and safety. There are also courses in professional and technical communication, and human factors.
As your studies progress you will explore aviation law, finance, economics and marketing; airline operations management; airport, project and strategic management; and risk and safety systems. You’ll also study leadership, and communications and research methods.
Your studies will incorporate both practical, professionally-focused and research-based learning, so assessment types will vary. You can expect them to include:
- case studies, reports and critical analyses
- essays and assignments
- examinations
- an industry-relevant project
- group projects or presentation
Your career
Over the next 20 years, IATA (the International Air Transport Association) forecasts that passenger air travel will double. Routes to, from and within the Asia-Pacific will see an extra 1.8 billion annual passengers by 2035 – the second highest global growth rate1.
This growth should have a flow on effect on other careers in the field of aviation, making it a very exciting time to be launching a career in this vibrant industry.
Careers to consider:
- manager airport services: oversee day-to-day operations airports, responsible for establishing and maintaining high standards of safety, security and customer service
- maintenance and safety specialists: responsible for programs and projects that ensure aircraft or workplace health and safety, including implementing WHS strategies, training employees and investigating incidents
- air traffic controller: directing and monitoring air traffic (both on the ground and in the sky), coordinating flight schedules, overseeing stringent safety protocols and aircraft communication
