About
In the Bachelor of Creative Arts, students gain the skills to become practicing artists;
to produce work – through image, sound and text – that will make a difference in the world.
The degree allows students to develop practical skills in their chosen discipline, as well as the theoretical knowledge to understand how creative art functions in contemporary cultural, political and artistic environments.
Students focus on one major study area:
Creative Writing, Music, Visual Arts or Visual Arts and Design.
They also undertake multidisciplinary subjects to understand the implications of their practice in the broader context of Australian and international creative contexts and to explore the potential for collaboration across a range of creative fields.
The program of study prepares students for creative arts opportunities in many contexts.
Our graduates have gone on to careers as artists, designers, writers, editors, publishers, musicians, , composers, sound technicians, technical operators, , curators, arts administrators or managers, teachers (on completion of a Master of Teaching).
They have found work in many areas of the Creative Industries:
galleries, publishing, festivals, print and digital media, radio, television and multimedia industries.
Structure
To qualify for award of the degree, the Bachelor of Creative Arts, a candidate must successfully complete at least 144 credit points comprised of:
- Four subjects (24 credit points) from the BCA core, outlined in the below schedule;
- At least one of the four majors in this degree:
- Creative Writing (72 credit points)
- Music (72 credit points)
- Visual Arts (72 credit points)
- Visual Arts and Design (96 credit points)
- Electives to bring the total number of credit points completed to 144.
- No more than 60cps at 100 level can be counted towards the Bachelor of Creative Arts degree.
- Students must achieve a clear pass in the core 300-level subjects to be eligible to graduate with a Bachelor of Creative Arts.

Learning outcomes
Course Learning Outcomes are statements of learning achievement that are expressed in terms of what the learner is expected to know, understand and be able to do upon completion of a course. Students graduating from this course will be able to:
