Students will philosophically reflect on questions about art, literature, science and religion while also investigating such topics as the nature of selfhood, truth, reason and wisdom.

Students will discover how great ideas and art can shape us - our understanding of ourselves and the world - and how ideas can make a difference for good or ill.

By studying the double degree your studies will be enhanced as you learn about the forces shaping the modern world and the theories that reinforce our understanding of the most important global issues of today.

Structure

To qualify for award of the degree, the Bachelor of Arts in Western Civilisation – Bachelor of International Studies, a candidate must successfully complete at least 240 credit points, comprised of: 1. Core subjects for the Bachelor of Arts in Western Civilisation (96 credit points); 2. One major study for the Bachelor of Arts in Western Civilisation (48 credit points); 3. Core subjects for the Bachelor of International Studies (24 credit points); 4. A minor in a language other than English (24 credit points); 5. One major study for the Bachelor of International Studies (48 credit points);

Students studying this degree will choose two 48 credit point majors, one chosen from the Bachelor of Arts in Western Civilisation and one chosen from the Bachelor of International Studies. Students will also complete a minor in a language other than English. Students that take a language major in the Bachelor of Arts in Western Civilisation cannot take the same language in the minor from the Bachelor of International Studies.
