The Master of Financial Management provides an opportunity for business professionals to enhance their career opportunities by developing further professional, personal skills and knowledge in financial management areas.
Graduates will develop the knowledge and skills to plan, organise, direct and control financial activities such as obtaining funds and using funds for investments.
This degree is available on a full-time or part-time basis at the Wollongong and Sydney campuses.
The course comprises a total of twelve subjects.
Students must complete four 800 level foundation subjects, plus five specialisation subjects at 900 level as well as a Financial Management Research Capstone and 2 elective subjects.
Students who successfully complete this degree may achieve credit towards a second Master degree, taking their study period to 2 years full time.
Students may select a second Master from any of the specialist business Masters degrees offered by the Faculty of Business and Law.
Structure
To qualify for award of this degree, a candidate must satisfactorily complete a total of at least 72 credit points, comprised of 10 specified subjects as listed in the program structure along with 2 X 900 level elective subjects (12 cps). The foundation subjects should be completed within the first two sessions of study and the capstone subject FIN 944 Financial Management Research Capstone, should be completed in the final session of study. Students select two 900 level elective subjects (totaling 12 cps) from a range of subjects offered by the Faculty of Business (excludes MBA, EMBA and some specialised 900 level subjects). Students are highly recommended to complete Finance subjects (FIN codes) as electives.
