Studying a Bachelor of Arts degree alongside a Bachelor of International Studies will give you essential skills, including critical and creative thinking, effective communication, and problem solving, all of which are required for high achievement in a range of global careers.The Bachelor of Arts will equip you for today’s rapidly changing world.

The disciplines housed in the Bachelor of Arts degree share a common interest in addressing the fundamental questions of human social life.

Share in the rich and global dialogue on contemporary human cultures.International Studies is the analysis, appreciation and study of the diversity of the global community.

It examines the relationships of politics, society, culture, language, and history in a range of countries and globally.

International Studies teaches you how to analyse national and global issues.

You will learn about the forces shaping the modern world and the theories that underpin our understanding of the most important global issues.

You will also gain language skills and we strongly encourage students to undertake study abroad to further expand their skills.

Structure

To qualify for award of this degree students must complete a minimum of 216 credit points which shall include:

  1. The core subjects prescribed for the Bachelor of International Studies, including LHA 101 (24 credit points);
  2. One of the majors listed for the Bachelor of International Studies (48 credit points);
  3. A minimum of a minor in a language other than English (24 credit points) (or, students may elect to take a major in a language - between 48 and 60 credit points);
  4. At least one of the majors listed for the Bachelor of Arts (minimum 48 and maximum 60 credit points);
  5. A second major (minimum 48 and maximum 60 credit points), or a minor (minimum 24 credit points), as listed on the Bachelor of Arts Handbook page or approved by the delegated authority. ; and
  6. Electives to bring the total credit points to 216.

Notes:

  • No more than 90 credit points in 100-level subjects;
  • A clear pass must be achieved in the core 300 level subjects.

Learning outcomes

The course learning outcomes in each of these degrees complement and consolidate outcomes in the partner degree. Applied across two discipline areas, the outcomes are achieved at a broader and more comprehensive level.
