Choose the Master of Physiotherapy if you are a physiotherapist wanting to gain advanced skills in musculoskeletal physiotherapy or sports physiotherapy.

The first stage of the program can be completed online for clinical physiotherapists working in various fields of special interest.

You will gain in depth knowledge and advanced clinical skills, as well as broaden your clinical skills across the field of practice and the ability to critically evaluate and contribute to research in your preferred area of clinical specialty.

You can also obtain a second masters degree in the alternate area (either musculoskeletal or sports physiotherapy) through an additional semester of full-time coursework.

Structure

In the first year of the program you will gain a sound understanding of key concepts underpinning therapeutic exercise as well as advancing your clinical theoretical/practical skills within the fields of biological/medical sciences and evidence based practice framework, as well as pain, disability and the psychosocial model as it applies to sports and musculoskeletal physiotherapy.

Placement courses

Both fields of study have an extensive clinical practice component where you will practise under the supervision of dedicated specialist clinical educators. Clinical placements may be outside of the Brisbane metropolitan area where you will be required to fund your travel, accommodation and daily living expenses. This program has pre-placement requirements which must be met prior to commencement of the program or a placement course. Further details can be found on the Placement Ready website.

To fulfil the requirements of the Master of Physiotherapy, a student must complete the requisite number of courses chosen from the course list in accordance with the Program Rules.
