About

UQ's Doctor of Clinical Dentistry (DClinDent) is a three year full-time Level 9 extended Masters (Australian Qualifications Framework) leading to a registrable specialist qualification.

You will experience:

Interdisciplinary learning and undertake patient care at the state-of-the-art Oral Health Centre with the most modern equipment, technologies and teaching methods.

Collegial support and interaction with the profession from the first week of your first year of study.

Research focus over all three years of the program.

The School of Dentistry offers the DClinDent program in Dento-Maxillofacial Radiology, Endodontics, Oral Medicine, Orthodontics, Periodontics, Prosthodontics and Special Needs Dentistry.

Structure

You will undertake a field of study related to your chosen specialty under the guidance of a supervisor which includes a component in basic and clinical sciences, a major clinical component in the nominated specialty, and a research project and report.

Placement courses

You will undertake extensive supervised clinical practice in a range of dental clinics in hospitals, external healthcare facilities and the Oral Health Centre (OHC) located at Herston. Placements will commence in first semester of the program. Actual timing of the placement may vary depending on area of speciality. Clinical placements may be outside of the Brisbane metropolitan area where you will be required to fund your travel, accommodation and daily living expenses. This program has pre-placement requirements which must be met prior to commencement of the program or a placement course. Further details can be found on the Placement Ready website.

To fulfil the requirements of the Doctor of Clinical Dentistry, a student must complete the requisite number of courses chosen from the course list in accordance with the Program Rules.
