Back to top Program aims This program is designed for prospective students who require professional development or qualifications upgrade.

The program aims to produce graduates who have an advanced awareness, understanding and appreciation of the complexities of human thought, expression and behaviour as reflected in a specified area of study.

Graduates will have developed capacity for specialised inquiry, and scholarship at a higher level and/or in applying knowledge in employment or community service, and have further enhanced their personal, cultural, creative and intellectual capacities.

Entry requirements

Admission requirements

To be eligible for admission, applicants must satisfy the following requirements:

  • Completion of an Australian university bachelor degree in the area of creative writing, English, or equivalent study area.
  • English Language Proficiency requirements for Category 3.

For candidates who have a Bachelor degree (AQF level 7) or equivalent in a non-cognate discipline from a recognised institution, USQ’s GCEP Graduate Certificate of Editing and Publishing provides an articulation pathway into the Graduate Diploma of Editing and Publishing.

All students are required to satisfy the applicable English language requirements.

If students do not meet the English language requirements they may apply to study a University-approved English language program. On successful completion of the English language program, students may be admitted to an award program.

Learning outcomes

Program objectives

On successful completion of the program students should be able to:

  1. synthesise and apply skills and knowledge in advanced professional contexts to solve real world issues and problems
  2. evaluate and critically analyse a range of ideas and theories pertaining to editing and publishing
  3. combine advanced knowledge, skills and competency in the practice of editing and publishing to produce responses to particular demands of professional practice
  4. conceive, plan, effectively communicate and execute work requiring research, scholarship, composition, and interpretation

This program focuses on editing and publishing in the print or text medium and includes activities associated with online publication.
