Entry requirements
Admission requirements
To be eligible for admission, applicants must satisfy the following requirements:
- Completion of an Australian university or equivalent three year Bachelor degree in the area of Nursing.
- Current Professional Registration as a Division 1 Nurse or equivalent with either Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) or relevant regulatory body in applicant's home country.
- A minimum of one years' professional work experience.
- English Language Proficiency requirements for Category 3.
All students are required to satisfy the applicable English language requirements.
If students do not meet the English language requirements they may apply to study a University-approved English language program. On successful completion of the English language program, students may be admitted to an award program.
Learning outcomes
Program objectives
On completion of the program, graduates will be able to:
- use research evidence to improve the quality of care delivered within their sphere of influence
- use contemporary leadership theory, including leadership styles to function as effective leaders in their chosen area of nursing or health care
- act as mentors for, and give support to, fellow nurses or other health care workers to enhance quality of care provision and embed principles of lifelong learning into their practice
- understand and implement ethical research principles and practices
- design and implement a research project or significant scholarly activity within a selected discipline area
- apply current research techniques and methodology in pursuit of specific research goals
- demonstrate competence in and appropriate use of language and literacy, including spelling, grammar, punctuation and bibliographic referencing.
