This course provides training in accounting primarily for those who do not have an accounting background.

Successful completion of this course means that you will be eligible for professional accounting body associate membership.This is an 18 month (12 unit) full-time or 3 year part-time course of study offered by the Tasmanian School of Business and Economics.

The course is available in both on campus and off campus modes.

All units are subject to formal assessment including the completion of continuous assessment such as assignments, and a final examination.The course is full fee-paying, which means that you will be charged at the full fee-paying rate listed for each unit.Important note:

Currently, there is one intake of the MPA in Launceston only (Semester 1).Due to the ongoing response to COVID-19, online study may replace some or all of your on-campus classes.

Structure

The Master of Professional Accounting consists of 12 units (150 credit points).

Special note for students studying on-campus

As not all units will be available on-campus at your location, you may need to take some of your units via distance (or at another campus if this option is convenient to you). However, if you are an international student studying in Australia on a student visa you will be able to do this and still meet your visa requirements by planning ahead to ensure that:

  • You have at least one on-campus unit in your enrolment each semester (This must be at the campus location specified in your Confirmation of Enrolment (CoE)
  • You do not enrol in more than 1/3 of the units for your degree via distance
