About
(Graduate program) This on-campus Graduate Honours course is offered at Hobart as a separate one-year (full-time) or two-year (part-time) course.Honours consists of planning and conducting a research project leading to a thesis.
Students who have an interest in research may undertake Graduate Honours either full or part-time following graduation.
An Honours degree in Pharmacy enhances career opportunities and is the usual prerequisite for further study for a research higher degree (Master of Pharmacy or Doctor of Philosophy).
Research Higher Degrees are generally expected for positions in the pharmaceutical industry, academia or government regulatory agencies.Graduate Honours consists of a planning and conducting a research project under the supervision of academic staff at the Division of Pharmacy, School of Medicine.
Students identify a suitable project and conduct a review of the scientific literature to provide a rationale for their project, develop a research plan with their supervisors, conduct the project and prepare a research thesis.
Students participate in research skills tutorials and present regularly to their peers and academic staff as a part of the course.Click here to download the project book.
Structure
One year's full-time work or two years' part-time in one of the following:
- clinical pharmacy/pharmacology
- pharmacy practice
- pharmaceutical science
- chemical ecology and toxicology
Entry requirements
This graduate honours course is available to students who hold a degree in pharmacy. Honours students are normally expected to have a credit grade point average. Honours applicants below credit average will be considered based on a combination of their academic record and relevant experience after graduation (minimum 3 years).
