About
The course has been designed to address areas of current need as a result of the increased use of technology within production facilities in the manufacturing sector.
The North-West region of Tasmania has long been recognised as a centre for traditional manufacturing.
In recent decades, market changes have encouraged local businesses to focus on advanced manufacturing such as the supply of components to original equipment manufacturers (OEM).This course is suited to individuals pursuing a career in the manufacturing industry across a range of roles.
The primary roles available to graduates are in design and fabrication, with other positions available within quality control, logistics and project management. The course design and cumulative learning approach is driven by themed problem-based learning projects that have a capstone assessment at the end of the first and second year.
It is envisaged these problem-based learning projects may not only facilitate collaboration and placements with industry and opportunities to co-design and deliver projects with industry or work with industry as client, but also strengthen applied knowledge and expose UC students to prospective employers.
