About
The Master of Information Systems (MIS) is a postgraduate coursework offering aimed at meeting emerging demands for a new generation of technology professionals ready to deal with the challenges of complex systems.
The offering focuses on the communication and computing infrastructure of enterprises and public organisations as they grapple with addressing contemporary socio-environmental challenges, and in creating a sustainable society.
Students study information systems management, processes and models, data analytics, planning and decision-making and knowledge management.This course provides working professionals a unique opportunity to upskill to meet the job demands of an increasingly digital world of the future.
MIS graduates are able to lead and create value from the financial, environmental and social nature of any type of organisation.
With future-focused specialisations, MIS graduates are well positioned to serve local Australian and international job markets.
Structure
Students are required to complete 72 credit points, comprising 36 credit points of Information Systems core subjects, 12 credit points of IS Studio project subjects, 12 credit points of complex systems core subjects and 12 credit points of complex systems choice subjects.

Entry requirements
Applicants must have completed a UTS recognised bachelor's degree, or an equivalent or higher qualification, or submitted other evidence of general and professional qualifications that demonstrates potential to pursue graduate studies.
It is a requirement that the bachelor's degree was completed with no more than 25 per cent of subjects failed.
The English proficiency requirement for international students or local applicants with international qualifications is: Academic IELTS: 6.5 overall with a writing score of 6.0; or TOEFL: paper based: 550-583 overall with TWE of 4.5, internet based: 79-93 overall with a writing score of 21; or AE5: Pass; or PTE: 58-64; or CAE: 176-184.
Eligibility for admission does not guarantee offer of a place.
International students
Visa requirement: To obtain a student visa to study in Australia, international students must enrol full time and on campus. Australian student visa regulations also require international students studying on student visas to complete the course within the standard full-time duration. Students can extend their courses only in exceptional circumstances.
