You’ll develop the communication skills and leadership strategies to develop teams, build business networks, implement operational plans and lead diverse teams.

You will gain the leadership skills necessary to work in wide range of organisations and industries.

On completion, you will know how to:

Structure

To be awarded BSB42015 Certificate IV in Leadership and Management, a student must successfully complete a total of twelve (12) units of competency, comprising of:

  • four (4) core units, and;
  • eight (8) elective units, of which:
  • four (4) units must be from Group A;
  • four (4) units may be selected from Group A or Group B;
  • one (1) unit may be selected from any currently endorsed training package at Certificate IV Level or above or any accredited course at Certificate IV level.

Elective units must be relevant to the work environment and the qualification, maintain the integrity of the AQF alignment and contribute to a valid, industry-supported vocational outcome as well as be approved by the Polytechnic.

Recognition of Prior Learning and/or Credit Transfers

Previous completion of units at the Polytechnic or any other Registered Training Organisation and/or previous attainment of skills and knowledge may be credited towards this course. Units must satisfy the completion rules of the qualification and be assessed as appropriate by the Polytechnic.

Entry requirements

Meeting the minimum admission requirements does not guarantee you entry into this course. Some courses receive more applications than the number of places available. In this situation we will also assess your education, work and other relevant experience.

Entry requirements

Prior to enrolment, all applicants will be required to complete a literacy and numeracy assessment to assist with determining eligibility and to identify learning support needs.

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)

You may be able to complete your qualification sooner through formal recognition of your existing skills. This is known as Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL).

To receive RPL, we assess your previous work, education and life experiences against recognised qualifications. Applications for RPL can be made prior to enrolling.

Learning outcomes

This qualification reflects the role of individuals working as developing and emerging leaders and managers in a range of enterprise and industry contexts. As well as assuming responsibility for their own performance, individuals at this level provide leadership, guidance and support to others. They also have some responsibility for organising and monitoring the output of their team.

They apply solutions to a defined range of predictable and unpredictable problems, and analyse and evaluate information from a variety of sources.
