This certificate is the first step in our graduate program in education.

It is tailored to trainers and teachers in education, community, government and industry.

Our graduate education course gives you an overview of the latest high-level education theory.

You’ll learn contemporary ideas and techniques in:

approaches to learning educational leadership for social justice innovation in education vocational education and training:

policy and practice.

Using this knowledge, you’ll conduct your own workplace research.

This experience is valuable if you’re ready to take your teaching career into a research or management role.

Our graduate program is offered in three stages.

Successful completion of this graduate certificate gains you admission to the Graduate Diploma of Education, which leads into the Master of Education.

This course does not provide registration to teach in Australia.

Structure

To complete the Graduate Certificate in Education students will be required to complete 48 credit points in total consisting of:

  • 24 credit points of Core Unit
  • 24 credit points Elective Unit selected from the list below

Additional Notes:

  • EED6001 must be taken in your first semester of study

Meeting the minimum admission requirements does not guarantee you entry into this course. Some courses receive more applications than the number of places available. In this situation we will also assess your education, work and other relevant experience.

Entry requirements

Completion of an Australian Bachelor degree (or equivalent) in a similar disciplineORApplicants with a minimum five (5) years approved work experience will be considered for admission to this course.

If you have completed study with another university or institution and believe you are eligible to receive credit for skills and past study, you can apply for advanced standing.

Applications for advanced standing can be made after a discussion with your course coordinator or academic adviser.

All applicants are required (1) to submit a current version of their CV (2) to present a 200 word statement outlining why they are interested in undertaking this course.
