About

In this course you will learn from our team of professionals how to provide a range of beauty services including:

waxing manicure and pedicare lash and brow treatments spray tanning make-up.

You will also learn to deliver beauty therapy treatments including:

basic and advanced facial treatments body massage body treatments.

This course includes training in demonstrating and selling retail skin care and cosmetic products.

You’ll also learn about safe hygiene and work practices and environmental sustainability.

You will learn through a combination of classroom and hands-on practical exercises, plus completing a practical placement in a salon of your choice.

You’ll graduate with the technical and customer service skills needed to work as a competent beauty therapist.

Structure

To be awarded SHB40115 Certificate IV in Beauty Therapy, a student must complete a total of nineteen (19) units of competency, consisting of:

  • thirteen (13) core units, and;
  • six (6) elective units, of which:
  • three (3) units must be selected from the electives listed in the SHB40115 Certificate IV in Beauty Therapy qualification;
  • three (3) units may be selected from the electives listed in the SHB40115 Certificate IV in Beauty Therapy qualification, elsewhere in SHB Hairdressing and Beauty Services Training Package or any other current training package or accredited course.

Meeting the minimum admission requirements does not guarantee you entry into this course. Some courses receive more applications than the number of places available. In this situation we will also assess your education, work and other relevant experience.

Entry requirements

Prior to enrolment, all applicants will be required to complete a literacy and numeracy assessment to assist with determining eligibility and to identify learning support needs.

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)

You may be able to complete your qualification sooner through formal recognition of your existing skills. This is known as Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL).

To receive RPL, we assess your previous work, education and life experiences against recognised qualifications. Applications for RPL can be made prior to enrolling.

Learning outcomes

This qualification reflects the role of individuals who are competent in a prescribed range of beauty therapy treatments and services, including facial massage, lash and brow treatments, nail technology services, make-up, waxing, body massage, and aromatherapy as well as providing advice on and selling retail skin care and cosmetic products. Work would be undertaken as skilled beauty therapists in the beauty therapy services stream of the beauty industry.
