About
Further your science degree by developing your knowledge of the science of food with a Bachelor of Science (Honours) (Nutrition and Food Sciences).
This additional fourth year of study prepares you for postgraduate studies.
You'll develop skills in:
working independently critical analysis of information problem-solving devising, designing and conducting experimental work written and oral communication.
Students complete a research project including two oral presentations, a literature review and the project thesis.
Structure
The courses are offered on a full-time basis over one year or equivalent if on a part-time basis. Entry to the Honours program can be either at the beginning of the academic year (February) or at a mid-year intake (July).

Why is ATAR not applicable?
You will not need an ATAR score to meet the admission requirements for this course. Only the successful completion of your secondary school studies, and any additional prerequisites. Our courses and support programs are designed to prepare students from diverse cultures for success, regardless of their prior experience, ATAR, age, socioeconomic or educational background.

Applicants with higher education study
This information is for people whose highest level of study since leaving secondary education is a higher education course.
Admission criteria
To qualify for entry to the honours program, applicants must hold a degree or equivalent with major studies in a relevant discipline. An applicant will usually have attained a Distinction (D) or High Distinction (HD) in units of study related to the intended discipline of Honours study. Entry into the Honours course will normally occur not more than two years after the completion of the first degree.

Credit for skills and past study

An Honours program is available in each of the degree specialisations. The aim of the honours program is to provide a course of advanced study at a fourth year level which builds on the knowledge and skills developed at degree level, and to prepare students for postgraduate research by developing skills in: working independently, critical analysis of information, problem-solving, devising, designing and conducting experimental work and written and oral communication
