Bachelor of Applied Social Science

The Bachelor of Applied Social Science is a specialised course that explores the connection between Indigenous knowledge systems and western culture. This is done by focusing on both theory and practice. Concepts of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander responsibilities of leadership and community are researched and explored in detail. Through a process of transformative learning, you will develop and demonstrate knowledge of practices that promote advocacy and empowerment for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and communities. During this course, you will learn about Indigenous social policy, resource management and community action. You will learn how to work within broader society as an active and culturally-capable agent of change, and apply what you learn in a culturally-informed and respectful manner.

Society and Culture: Learn how philosophy, sociology and Indigenous perspectives influence the way we think about the world and make decisions. You'll explore the social issues facing Northern Australia and Southeast Asia and the cultural drivers that impact change. Global Humanities in a Digital Age: Examine the impact of today's digital environment on politics, public policy and government decision making in Australia and South-East Asia, and understand how lessons learned from the past can inform the government decisions of the future. Indigenous Governance and Policy: Develop the knowledge and skills to develop meaningful policy and implement change for Australia's Indigenous peoples. You'll learn about the sociological, economic, historical and cultural drivers that impact Australia's Indigenous policy making and governance. Contemporary Indigenous Australia: Gain the skills and knowledge to work with Indigenous cultures and communities in a culturally-competent way. This major focuses on developing your inter-cultural practice, with an emphasis on the role of Indigenous languages, cultural sites, land rights and resources, community engagement and advocacy. Languages and Linguistics: Learn a new language and examine the role of language and linguistics in our communities - Chinese, Greek, Indonesian or one of three Indigenous languages (Yolngu, Arrernte or Bininj Kunwok). Explore how languages work, how they are preserved and revitalised. The majoroffers opportunities to advance your language skills with an in-country study program. Creative and Digital Arts: Gain the skills, knowledge and portfolio to succeed in the creative and digital arts industries. Learn about creative theory and business practices and complete a range of creative projects using new and emerging design technologies. Music Making, Production and Performance: Learn to make, produce and perform music using an instrument of your choice. You'll complete a combination of theory-based and hands-on subjects using new and emerging technologies, and gain industry experience through community-based projects. Architectural Design: Explore the concepts and theories of architectural design, focusing on Australia's north, the tropics and South-East Asia. Bachelor of Arts/Bachelor of Laws

This is a highly competitive course and applicants are strongly encouraged to also apply for the Associate Degree of Legal Studies (115141) or the Diploma of Laws (116151) as an alternative pathway should they not meet the cut off. Students who complete the Associate Degree of Legal Studies or the Diploma of Laws at Charles Darwin University will be eligible to apply for full credit upon admission to the Bachelor of Laws. This combined degree provides students with the generic skills and understanding of humanities and social sciences in conjunction with legal education for the practice of law. The arts course provides graduates with the ability to understand and study human society. It develops high levels of written and oral communication skills in the humanities and social sciences, including history, political science and literary studies. It prepares graduates for research training at honours and postgraduate level. The law course provides legal education for the practice of law. In that context, the course provides knowledge of the legal system and legal principles, and cultivates a capacity for legal research, analysis and communication. The course also deals with theoretical perspectives on the law and encourages an appreciation of legal issues of special significance to the Northern Territory, including Aboriginal legal issues. The Bachelor of Laws program draws upon the Law School's active and growing relationships with the legal profession, Aboriginal customary law leaders, and overseas law schools. The international links facilitate the Law School emphasis on providing students with exposure to transnational law, including comparative law, and opportunities are provided for students to study overseas at partner universities, with credit being given towards the CDU law degree.

Bachelor of Accounting

Bachelor of Psychological Science Honours

Bachelor of Medical Laboratory Science Honours

There is no direct entry into this course, it is only available by internal course transfer. Medical Laboratory Scientists work in a range of areas in pathology, including haematology, clinical chemistry, microbiology, histology and serology. They are skilled in performing tests on both human and veterinary specimens, such as blood, tissues and bodily fluids to assist in the diagnosis of disease and provide information about the treatment options. The results of these tests provide physicians with the essential information they need to treat and prevent disease. This professionally oriented four-year full-time course (or part-time equivalent), combines theoretical and laboratory-based study along with industry placements in world leading institutes.
