You'll develop practical skills in the following areas:  identifying, locating and protecting underground services measurements and calculations manual excavation levelling reading and interpreting plans and specifications. Learn how to safely use and maintain tools and equipment used in civil construction, including: hand and power tools small plant and equipment concreting materials and equipment. You'll also develop an understanding of workplace safety and the safe disposal of infrastructure materials. On completion, you’ll have a broad understanding of the industry and have the skills and knowledge to gain employment as an apprentice, or undertake further study such as the Certificate III in Civil Construction.

This is an apprenticeship course (external link) , designed for those currently employed as cabinet-making apprentices. It will provide you with the formal trade certificate you need, to become a fully qualified cabinet maker. You’ll be prepared to work in furniture making and the installation and manufacture of fitted furniture in kitchens and bathrooms. Through classroom learning and work-based tasks, you’ll gain skills and knowledge to complement your on-the-job training. We provide a strong partnership between you, your employer and our teaching staff that will ensure you know how to: use hand and power tools apply surface coatings using a spray gun produce manual and computer-aided drawings estimate and cost a job. You'll graduate with the skills, confidence and experience to be job-ready.

You’ll learn to build high-quality furniture in this practical pre-apprenticeship course (external link) .  We'll ensure you're ready to enter the trades industry by introducing you to a range of basic production skills including: use of hand and power tools making measurements and calculations timber joining furniture assembly finishing and surface coating. You’ll also learn about workplace safety and environmentally-sustainable work practices. When you graduate from this course, you’ll have a broad understanding of the industry and be prepared to choose your career path. You’ll have the skills and knowledge to gain employment as an apprentice and undertake further study such as the Certificate III in Cabinet Making.

In this practical pre-apprenticeship course (external link) , you'll learn how to: prepare surfaces mix and apply stains apply finishing material by hand and spray gun restore furnishing items operate a range of furniture finishing equipment cost furniture finishing jobs. This course also covers workplace safety and environmentally sustainable work practices. You’ll learn how to work safely with hazardous substances and dangerous goods. When you graduate, you’ll be prepared to gain employment as a furniture-finishing apprentice.

This course will give you practical engineering skills as well as a broad understanding of engineering principles. You'll develop skills in the safe use and maintenance of equipment including: drill machines lathes grinders milling machines other engineering tools and materials. You’ll learn how to produce components and products using hand tools and machines. You’ll also learn how to read and create basic technical/computer-aided design (CAD) drawings. This course also teaches you occupational health and safety principles and how to follow workplace safety regulations. This qualification will help you to get an engineering apprenticeship or traineeship, or an entry-level job in the field.
