There is increasing recognition amongst psychiatrists of the extreme variability in quality of psychiatric training of general doctors and specialists around the world. There is a massive disparity in access to adequately trained doctors between low, middle, and high-income countries, as well as between urban and rural areas.The Graduate Diploma of International Psychiatry (GDipPsych) course is aimed at medical professionals worldwide, who work with mentally ill patients in any capacity, or would like to develop their capacity to do so. Students also have the option of enrolling in the Master of Genomics and Health course (200 points) and exiting with the Graduate Diploma (100 points), enrolling in the Graduate Diploma and exiting with the Graduate Certificate (50 points), or enrolling in the Graduate Certificate and subsequently articulating to the Graduate Diploma or Master.The rapid advances in genomics in the last decade are expected to bring about benefits in health care but are not without their challenges in terms of upskilling a workforce that is able to incorporate new ways of thinking about and applying genomics, as well as consideration of ethical and social issues.This Graduate Diploma in Genomics and Health course is the first course of its kind in Australia and students will engage in discourse around the current and potential impact on health and medicine brought about by these advances in genomics and genomic technologies.This course is designed to be available to students at different stages in their careers, including career starters and those who currently work and wish to further their knowledge, skills and qualifications. The coursework includes 75 points of compulsory subjects and allows some individual tailoring by offering students the choice of 2 elective subjects (25 points).Students who wish to transfer at any stage into the Master of Genetic Counselling must meet the course eligibility rules and successfully complete all of the compulsory subjects required for that stage of the Master of Genetic Counselling. This will only occur after approval from the Master of Genetic Counselling Curriculum Committee.

It is designed for professionals in the private and public sectors who are aspiring to build or advance a career in this field.It can be completed either wholly online or through a combination of wholly online and wholly on-campus subjects. Using a combination of face-to-face teaching in small class sizes and sophisticated interactive technology, the course facilitates close rich engagement with globally-renown experts and a diverse network of like-minded peers.The course requires completion of 50 credit points in total. Students who complete the Graduate Diploma have the option of transferring to the LLM (Global Competition and Consumer Law), for law graduates, or Master of Global Competition and Consumer Law, for non-law graduates, which will involve completion of a further 50 credit points. Credit will be given towards these masters degrees for the credit points completed in the Graduate Diploma.As most students in this course will be full-time professionals, enrolment is on a part-time basis for most students. On this basis, the course will typically be completed in two years. However, students will be permitted to elect to undertake an increased study load during their course if their circumstances allow.
