The objective of this course is to increase the depth and diversity of the skills and knowledge of professionals practicing in the Victorian river health management industry and thus to improve the capacity of organisations to deliver their roles and responsibilities for river health.The course is one-year part-time, delivered by a combination of distance learning and intensive periods of face-to-face teaching. Field trips are an integral component of all subjects.

The course has been developed in response to a request by Corrections Victoria for a professional development program for correctional staff with responsibility for the case management of sexual offenders. The proposed course is modelled on the Specialist Certificate in Criminology (Forensic Disability) that has been provided by the University of Melbourne since 2009, and comprises two subjects (Introduction to Sexual Offender Management and Advanced Practice in Sexual Offender Management). The subject will be delivered by Dr. Mayumi Purvis, who holds a PhD in Criminology from the University of Melbourne, and Ms. Simone Shaw, who holds a Masters in Forensic Psychology. Both Dr. Purvis and Ms. Shaw are experienced practitioners in this field. No accredited training of this type is currently available in Victoria or elsewhere in Australia.This is an intensive post-graduate program taught over ten days, which provides professional training in the case management of sexual offenders.The course is designed for professionals who work with sexual offenders, but who may lack clinical qualifications to support their practices.The course gives participants the requisite knowledge about sexual offenders and case management practice approaches, together with practical skills in the assessment and effective management of this complex and difficult offender population. This knowledge will assist practitioners to meet their professional responsibilities successfully and with the utmost confidence in their intervention practices.

The Graduate Certificate in Cancer Nursing is delivered wholly online by cancer nursing clinical experts and educators. This course is completed part-time over 12 months. As a student of this course, you will complete four core subjects and two selectives in a specialty area relevant to your area of practice. This course provides students with sound knowledge and understanding of the theoretical knowledge and scientific advances that underpin the comprehensive care and management of individuals affected by cancer. During the course students will apply cancer nursing knowledge into clinical practice demonstrating their ability to competently care for patients with complex care requirements using evidence-based and scientific approaches. On successful completion of this course, students may be eligible for the Master’s of Advanced Nursing Practice.

This online program will be offered to practicing medical professionals who wish to obtain further expertise in medical ultrasound for clinical practice.The course is designed to provide the knowledge-base necessary for diagnostic-level performance of echocardiography and interpretation; surface ultrasound uses such as ultrasound guided procedures and nerve blocks; and other medical specialist specific ultrasound applications such as vascular ultrasound examination. The aim is to provide advanced knowledge to specialist craft groups to facilitate use of ultrasound relevant to their specialty.The Graduate Certificate in Clinical Ultrasound is part of a nested program of courses related to the use of clinical ultrasound. The program includes the Graduate Diploma in Clinical Ultrasound and the Master of Clinical Ultrasound.

The Graduate Certificate in Critical Care Nursing is an online course providing students with a sound understanding of the theoretical knowledge and scientific advances that underpin care management of patients requiring specialist care such as emergency and/or intensive care.With clinical support from a health service employer, students will gain essential knowledge and the clinical skills required to understand core concepts relating to acute illnesses, diseases and trauma in critical care services, as well as gain skills in critiquing evidence-based guidelines for the care management of patients and their families in these specialist areas.
