ACU’s Graduate Diploma in Public Health equips graduates with advanced knowledge, understanding and skills in public health to improve population health and well-being. The course prepares graduates to practice with a community, national or global focus, and with an ethical, social justice perspective. On successful completion of the course, graduates should be able to demonstrate advanced knowledge across major subject areas within public health; analyse and utilise best available evidence to support public health action; and demonstrate skills needed to critique and implement a range of public health interventions. Articulation from this course into the Master of Public Health program is available.

The Graduate Diploma in Rehabilitation provides evidence based studies for health professionals including registered physiotherapists, occupational therapists, speech pathologists, nurses and other allied health professionals who seek to extend knowledge and skills in the fields of aged and neurological rehabilitation for promotion and professional recognition, or return to the workforce. This program enables articulation to the Master of Rehabilitation (Discipline). The course builds on the health inquiry unit and units related to clinical reasoning, advanced studies in chronic disease and disability and inter-professional practice and delivers case-based, on-line studies of aged and neurological disorders for holistic management and participation, along with research methodologies to plan a work-based project and a discipline specific practicum. Graduates of the Graduate Diploma in Rehabilitation should be able to: Demonstrate advanced rehabilitation clinical knowledge and skill required in interprofessional rehabilitation settings Synthesise and evaluate complex clinical information, problems, concepts and theories related to challenges within rehabilitation settings which is informed by evidence based practice; Apply effective ethical clinical leadership using advanced clinical judgement and decision-making to healthcare challenges within rehabilitation settings.

The Graduate Diploma in Health Administration offers students the opportunity to build on their administrative or management foundations by evaluating current approaches to policy development and implementation in health care delivery. The structure of this course allows students to select a project stream or a research stream relevant to health administration.

This is a one-year introductory program for students interested in a range of entry-level careers in Youth Work. You will gain an insight into the diverse challenges and needs of young people in a range of public and community-based settings and be prepared for further study in the field.

The Graduate Diploma in Psychology is for students who have previously completed an accredited three-year sequence in psychology. It offers advanced level study in a selection of specialised areas in psychology. The course provides graduates with an approved Australian Psychology Accreditation Council (APAC) fourth year of training in psychology. In addition to covering professional issues and ethics, assessment and intervention, and research projects into human behaviour, this graduate diploma also offers electives in advanced topics in psychology.

The Diploma in Commerce provides a broad understanding of key commercial and business concepts. It allows students to study units (subjects) in the Bachelor of Commerce course and acts as an alternative pathway into the Bachelor of Commerce, Bachelor of Business Administration or Bachelor of Accounting and Finance degrees. I f you complete this diploma successfully you can then enter one of those Bachelor degrees. Furthermore, you will be given credit for the units (subjects) you’ve already done. The Diploma in Commerce offers you: English language classes for international students close monitoring of your individual progress relevant unit in English Communication Skills. You will also study units (subjects) such as: Introduction to Accounting Working with Technology Managing People and Organisations Managing Markets.

The Diploma in Business Information Systems provides a broad understanding of key commercial and business concepts. It allows students to study units (subjects) in the Bachelor of Information Technology course and acts as an alternative pathway into the Bachelor of Information Technology degree. If you complete this diploma successfully you can then enter the Bachelor degree and be given credit for the units (subjects) you’ve already done. The Diploma in Business Information Systems offers international students: English language classes close monitoring of your individual progress You will also learn about: how information systems (IS) drive competitive strategies and organisational change the significance of both technological and organisational issues in the analysis, design, development and deployment of IS solutions.

This course is for students who want a career in disability or human service management. It’s one of the few opportunities to take a university course in this area. This associate degree also acts as a pathway course into the Bachelor of Inclusive Education and Disability Studies for those who don’t currently meet the entry requirements. Students will develop a holistic view of disability and the social structures that influence learning and development for people with special needs. This includes areas such as: social justice and empowerment advocacy the influence of disability on learning social dynamics and positive behaviour support. Students can tailor the course to their interests by selecting topics in assessment tasks, fieldwork components and the selection of specialisation subject units. The majority of assessments are assignment or project based to help integrate practice and theory.

The Graduate Certificate in Business Administration lays the foundation for a generalist management qualification in the Master of Business Administration. The Graduate Certificate provides you with the introduction to the important management disciplines of finance, communications, marketing and business organisation. You will be ready to advance your career through a postgraduate award that leads to enhanced professional recognition and marketability. The Graduate Certificate in Business Administration articulates into the Master of Business Administration. This is a six-month full-time (or part-time equivalent) course.

The Foundation Studies Program provides a pathway to ACU undergraduate degrees, for international and domestic students who wish to study at university but do not have a recognised Year 12 qualification. You will study on campus and be immersed in the distinctive culture of the university throughout the course. You will become familiar with ACU facilities, resources and systems and in the academic expectations and assessment models used in undergraduate degrees at ACU. Class sizes will be small (a maximum of 20 students) and staffed to provide a highly supportive learning environment. Foundation Studies aims to equip you with the knowledge, skills and confidence to succeed at undergraduate level at ACU.
