Master of Public Health (Global Nutrition and Active Living)

Globalisation, climate change and demographic transition have led to shifts in health needs all over the world. This course has been developed to prepare health professionals to be ready and able to respond to these changes. Uniquely, this course focuses on both global nutrition and active living in diverse communities, from both an Australian and international perspective. You’ll develop the specialist knowledge and skills that the global marketplace demands, for a challenging but rewarding career in public health, emergencies and development. You can choose to specialise in one of the two streams offered: global public health nutrition public health and active living. There is also a unit on ‘nutrition in emergencies’ offered independently, which is aligned with internationally recognised content.

Master of Health Science (Osteopathy)

This course will equip you with the knowledge and diagnostic skills to confidently begin your osteopathy career. VU offers one of only three accredited osteopathy programs in Australia. This masters follows on from the Bachelor of Science (Osteopathy). Together, the courses provide eligibility for registration to practice as an osteopath. Our highly regarded course has an extensive work-experience program, with hands-on practice at our professional clinics. You’ll graduate skilled in formulating suitable and safe treatment programs, including soft-tissue techniques, joint mobilisation and exercise rehabilitation. You’ll have the diagnostic skills and graduate capabilities for osteopathic practice required by primary healthcare practitioners.

Bachelor of Speech and Language Sciences/Master of Speech Pathology

This Australian-first dual degree taught with the VU Block Model will prepare you to support those with communication and/or speech and swallowing challenges. As a speech pathologist, you’ll play a crucial role in enabling communication and/or speech and improving swallowing disorders to enhance quality of life for those experiencing these difficulties, as well as support their families and broader community. With plenty of opportunities for practical learning throughout your degree, you’ll be prepared for work in the contemporary speech pathology industry across complex and diverse settings. The course combines the practical and theoretical study of communication and swallowing disorders with human development, biomedical sciences, human rights and principles of social justice to enable you to graduate as a well-rounded practitioner. The course has been designed to meet the accreditation standards of Speech Pathology Australia (SPA) (external link) and is currently in the qualifying phase of accreditation. VU will seek accreditation of the award courses prior to the first cohort of students graduating to enable graduates to be eligible for membership with Speech Pathology Australia, in line with the SPA accreditation process for new courses. Master of Engineering (By Research)

Master of Teaching (Primary Education)
