Contact Future Students for more information.The Master of Forensic Anthropology has been designed specifically for students to gain knowledge in current developments in forensic sciences and particularly those medical and social sciences which are of direct relevance to the application to forensic anthropology. The degree will enable students to undertake advanced studies in forensic anthropology. There is considerable diversity of research related to forensic anthropology, ranging from traditional morphometrics through to computer-graphic facial reconstruction.

To achieve this, planners need a good understanding of the way in which societies, economies and environments operate and interact. This course develops students' knowledge of concepts and methods, in urban and regional planning and their ability to apply research skills to planning issues.

Knowledge of past and present earth processes is fundamental in predicting future environmental change. This course develops students' abilities to gather and interpret geological information for a wide range of applications.

Contact Future Students for more information.Hydrogeology deals with the distribution, flow and interaction of groundwater with the Earth including the hydrosphere, biosphere and lithosphere. The subject investigates the chemical, physical and biological interactions occurring between water, soils/rocks, the environment and society. This course develops students' abilities to deal with topics such as groundwater dynamics, exploration, drilling and aquifer tests, sustainable allocation of groundwater, contamination and computer modelling.

This course gives students an understanding of the molecular evolution, structure, physiology, reproduction, behaviour and ecology of organisms, and the skills to apply this knowledge to the management of natural systems and the species they support.

Enriched by inputs from genomic research, biotechnology is becoming a major force for development in all countries. Entwined with culture and socio-ethical values, biotechnology contributes to solving problems like food and water insecurity. The use of plants, animals and bacteria, enhanced by areas such as genetics and genomics gives rise to new food, fibre and chemical production routes, new strategies for environmental protection and stewardship as well as training the next generation of biomolecular scientists.This is a signature program designed to set us apart from other Universities by offering a thorough grounding in state-of-the-art biotechnology and combining this with training in enterprise and commercialisation. This includes developing the theory of genetics and molecular biology in parallel with skills training in practical techniques such as next generation genomics, proteomics, metabolomics, genetic engineering methods like CRISPR, and basic and advanced bioinformatics. Current streams include the application of biotechnology to generate aquatic products, services and energy, for environmental monitoring, protection, food security and reuse of waste, Genetics and Genomics, Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, Bioethics and Commercialisation. An important market advantage stems from the incorporation of commercialisation and enterprise, business planning and company spin out, into the course.This cross-Faculty course draws on the expertise of staff in the UWA Business School, business angels and mentors in biotechnology spin outs to provide the academic and business skills graduates need to make a significant contribution to the biotechnology sector now and into the future. Graduates will be well positioned to pursue careers in international research laboratories, government agencies as well as the private sector.The core of the course draws on the expertise in Science and Business to provide a basis for skills training in biotechnology and combining this with skills in enterprise and commercialisation. In the Faculty of Science, key components are provided by the School of Molecular Sciences and UWA School of Agriculture and Environment. The Business School provides the required skills training in the commercialisation of biotechnological innovation.
