The Bachelor of Primary Education is a 4 year accredited qualification preparing graduates for the rewarding role of being a primary school educator. The degree aims to develop reflective, professional teachers who can work effectively in an increasingly diverse classroom environment.In addition to studying the subjects in the Australian curriculum, students will focus on areas such as Professional Studies, Aboriginal Education, Inclusive Education in Schools, and Teaching Linguistically and Culturally Diverse Students.Professional Experience is a compulsory component of this course and usually occurs in Illawarra, Shoalhaven, Southern Highlands, and Southern and South Western Sydney schools. Students can also apply for ‘out-of-area’ (rural NSW) or overseas professional experiences.Students who have achieved a high level of academic performance in the first three years of the degree may complete the fourth year at honours level.Students who intend to study part-time should consult with the Academic Program Director at the time of enrolment for advice on progression and timetabling.

The Bachelor of Education – The Early Years is an exciting approach to professional preparation of teacher qualified professionals in the Early Childhood Education and Care sector, recognising the increasingly expanding and rewarding role of the Early Education Teacher.The course recognises the significance of enriched educational opportunities and experiences for all children in the early years necessary to ensure their present and future health, development and wellbeing. It focuses on extending and enriching young children’s learning from birth through to five years and transition to school, providing children with opportunities to maximise their potential and develop a foundation for future success in learning.The Bachelor of Education – The Early Years focuses on the development of very young children being connected to family, community, culture and place. Students will learn about child development, establishing respectful and caring relationships with children and their families, cultural and social diversity, early intervention, leadership and advocacy.Students will have the opportunity to gain sector experience and professional connections through the Professional Partners in Practice (PPP) program in which students are paired with an early childhood education and care centre for continuous professional mentoring. Students will also spend up to 16 weeks in early childhood education and care centres as part of the Professional Experience Program.

The Dean's Scholar degree aims to provide an enriched educational experience for high-achieving, motivated students. This degree is for students hoping to make a contribution to fields of study through teaching or research, or as professionals. Dean’s scholars are assisted by a member of academic staff to advise you on matters concerned with your degree, as well as an annual text book or resource allowance, and designated study space.The Dean’s Scholar Program is designed for high achieving students to complete the Bachelor of Creative Arts degree with a number of benefits, which include: - A yearly text book or resource allowance; - Access to postgraduate events, seminars and workshops, where appropriate; - Limited printing privileges; - Access to shared study and workspace; - Specialised subject LHA 102 Dean's Scholars Seminar; - Extended library access; - Opportunity for internships and/or self-directed study/special projects.To qualify for the award of Dean’s Scholar, students must complete the course requirements specified for the Bachelor of Creative Arts. Dean's Scholars must also maintain an average of 75% in each year of study to remain in the program. If the student's average falls below 75%, the student will be transferred into the Bachelor of Creative Arts degree.
