The Bachelor of Environmental Biology focuses strongly on ecosystem protection and management, and in practical experience undertaken during field excursions. Students are introduced to the latest findings by lecturers actively engaged in research solutions to environmental problems such as climate change and sustainability. Studies focus on the foundation components of the natural systems, how these systems work, and how detrimental impacts on them can be assessed and recovered.This course gives students a thorough understanding of the way living organisms function in terrestrial and aquatic environments, acquisition of skills to study them and the ability to detect and assess detrimental effects on the environment such as climate change, pollution and human resource use. Students learn these skills and concepts through a dynamic combination of theory, field and laboratory experiences. Excursions undertaken in the seniors years are particularly valued for the opportunities they provide to consolidate knowledge, apply new skills and learning through experience.

This course is offered jointly by the Faculty of Engineering and Information Technology and the UTS Business School and is awarded with two testamurs. The information technology component provides a sound education in all aspects of computing and information technology for students who intend to make a career in the profession. The business component provides students with the knowledge, competencies and values necessary for fulfilling an effective career in business.Graduates with solid IT skills who also understand business operations are in strong demand in industry. This combined program allows students to gain two degrees, leading towards a career in business IT operations in only four years.

The Bachelor of Construction Project Management delivers the management, technology and process skills required to work in a variety of roles across the full spectrum of construction projects. Students are taught a wide range of project management methodologies with a strong focus on applying these to real-world projects.The combined Bachelor of Construction Project Management Bachelor of Arts in International Studies aims to provide graduates with the skills necessary for the management of all aspects of the construction process, as well as develop students' perspectives and understandings to enable them to meet the demands of an internationalised professional environment.The emphasis on the utilisation of digital technologies, such as building information modelling, ensures that students understand the leading-edge advances being implemented in the industry. This knowledge can be applied in other industry sectors, providing even further employment opportunities.All students are required to complete a minimum of 200 days' industry experience during the course, providing essential professional exposure. For the vast majority of students this entails paid employment in the industry with contractors and consultants (typically called cadetships). To broaden their personal and professional outlook, students can also choose electives, or a sub-major in a range of disciplines, outside construction project management, including business accounting, environmental studies and Aboriginal studies.

Students who originally enrolled in the Bachelor of Education in Primary Education (C10206), Bachelor of Arts Bachelor of Education (C10350), Bachelor of Education (Primary) (C10407) or Master of Teaching in Secondary Education (C04255) have the opportunity of transferring to this three-year degree (subject to the approval of the program director). This degree does not provide qualifications to teach.The skills and knowledge about education delivered in this course are relevant in a wide range of professions. Students gain a foundational knowledge about education and explore avenues for building on this knowledge in their future careers.

The Bachelor of Medical Science is designed for careers in medical and health-related sciences. It aims to produce professional medical scientists with highly adaptable and practical scientific skills accompanied by a thorough grounding in theory. It specialises in the human body's structure, function and disease processes at the cellular and whole organ level.Students gain a good understanding of the human body's structure, function and disease processes at the cellular and whole organ level. The course provides the foundation knowledge and skills for students who wish to go on to postgraduate programs such as medicine, dentistry, pharmacy, public health and health administration. Pharmaceutical companies look to medical science graduates to work in areas such as drug registration and clinical trials.

The Bachelor of Biotechnology provides students with a broad knowledge of modern biotechnology and its applications. Algal biofuels, stem cell therapy and new methods of disease diagnosis are just a few projects that biotechnologists are working on today.This course provides students with a good understanding of biological processes of living organisms and the skills required to manipulate these processes in the development of new medicines and environmental management. Students gain broad knowledge of modern biotechnology and practical skills in ethics, law and business processes.Biotechnology is a key science of the future and graduates have high employment rates due to the course's strong professional and industry focus. Graduates of this course gain a professional qualification in biological science and a strong foundation in the commercial aspects of biotechnology.Students choose one from the following two majors:medical biotechnology – students gain knowledge and skills to work in both the biotechnology industry and biomedical science research. It is an exciting and rapidly evolving area, leading to development of a new generation of pharmaceuticals, vaccines, hormones and anti-inflammatory agents using this technology. environmental biotechnology – students gain knowledge and skills to address environmental issues, such as the removal of pollution, renewable energy generation or biomass production, by exploiting biological processes. Students learn how to remediate contaminated sites, develop more sustainable products (such as converting algae to fuel) or use microbes to manage waste.

The Bachelor of Biotechnology Bachelor of Business is designed to produce graduates who are prepared for scientific practice in the biotechnology industry or who are equipped for entry into business and management in science-based businesses or institutions.Students study the biological processes of living organisms and learn the skills required to manipulate processes in the development of new pharmaceuticals, vaccines, food or organic substances. This combined degree allows students to choose between a career in business or biotechnological science.

The medical science program is designed to educate and train graduates for careers in medical and health-related sciences. It aims to produce medical scientists with highly adaptable, practical scientific skills and a thorough grounding in the structure and function of the human body and in disease processes at the cellular, whole organ and behavioural level.The combination of medical science and international studies aims to produce graduates with an increased awareness of the international contexts of health and who are well prepared to pursue global health-related professional careers.Multinational pharmaceutical companies look to medical science graduates to work in drug registration, clinical trials coordination, as technical or marketing representatives and as policy analysts.
