The UTS Bachelor of Global Studies is a highly versatile, professionally oriented arts degree that takes globalisation in its political, economic and cultural manifestations as its core subject of inquiry. Students draw connections between global phenomena and concrete local practices in work and life, seeing the opportunities and constraints that exist for different groups of people. The course engages students in complex problem-solving regarding global processes and events.Students select a major in business, management, communications, health or legal studies and integrate the perspectives and skills from their professional major into their core subjects. Students may choose to study overseas on session?long exchange or short?term work and/or study placements, or to learn another language. Students undertake either a domestic or international work placement.This course prepares graduates for careers and contributions in a world of social and cultural diversity being transformed by globalisation, allowing students to draw connections between global phenomena and local practices in work and life.

A combined qualification in IT and law can prepare students to leverage technology for professional gain. This combined degree emphasises practice-based IT skills that can be integrated into a legal career or comprehensive legal skills that can prepare students for the competitive world of IT.Students study the fundamentals of law (such as ethics, criminal, tort, contracts and constitutional law, among others) and IT (including programming, networking, information and web systems) plus a range of specialist electives that reflect their professional interests. The Legal Futures and Technology major can also build additional technical expertise.By completing the law component of this combined degree, students meet the academic requirements for admission to practise law in NSW. As well as gaining discipline-specific skills, students also build capabilities in critical thinking, problem solving, communication and collaboration that can serve them well in a wide range of workplace environments.

The Bachelor of Science, Bachelor of Arts in International Studies is a combined degree in the sciences, language and culture. In the science component, students may select any one of the nine different majors leading to the award of a science degree with the chosen major. Students can also opt not to choose a major but select a range of science subjects to tailor their study according to their interests.In the international studies component, students are immersed in another language and culture. Students choose an in-country study major to learn the language and culture. Students live overseas for a year experiencing the international component as part of their combined degree.Students develop practical scientific and mathematical skills with an international dimension. International study is unique as it allow students to gain qualifications in language, intercultural and international awareness to a specific country of their choice. This added dimension expands students career opportunities and employability in the global workplace.

The Bachelor of Science gives students a solid foundation in scientific knowledge and practice while allowing them to specialise in an area of interest. Students may follow any of the nine different majors leading to the award of a degree naming the chosen major, e.g. Bachelor of Science in Nanotechnology, or Bachelor of Science in Medical Science, or any of the majors available. Majors are chosen at the end of first year when students have experienced a range of disciplines and are more equipped to choose their preferred path. Students may also choose not to follow a major, but to select a range of second- and third-year subjects to tailor their study according to their interests and graduate with a cross-disciplinary degree.The flexibility of this course allows students to either specialise in a specific professional area or to develop skills and knowledge in a range of scientific disciplines. All majors aim to produce professional scientists with a thorough grounding in theory and highly adaptable and practical scientific, experimental and computational skills relevant to the discipline chosen.

This course integrates a professional degree in information technology with the study of a language and culture other than English and the opportunity for students to study overseas for an academic year, pursuing a major research project in a field of their choice.The information technology component provides a sound education in all aspects of computing and information technology for a career in the profession.The international studies component offers an in-depth understanding of diverse cultures through academic learning at UTS and the host institution during the year abroad.Students choose an IT major and are allocated to a country major as part of the Bachelor of Arts in International Studies.The course adopts a practice-based approach to IT education and the course content is designed with a mix of theory and practice. As well as gaining strong technical skills in IT, students gain skills in business analysis, problem-solving, teamwork and communication. Employers look for graduates with industry experience and, in this course, students are exposed to real IT problems.The international studies component of this course means that graduates have the added advantage of being well prepared to participate in a global workforce and a diverse range of IT careers and companies.

The Bachelor of Accounting is a cooperative education program in accounting. It is an intensive course offered in conjunction with major employers. Students complete a compulsory first major in accounting and receive a scholarship and full-time work training.This course is a specialist degree for high-achieving students who view an accounting career as an excellent foundation for future business leadership. All students in the course receive a scholarship of up to $51,500 (including $8000 recruitment incentive at the end of the program) over three years and a year of full-time industry experience, and are encouraged to complete a second major or sub-major in another business discipline. Historically the course has a graduate employment rate greater than 95 per cent.

This course offers a sound education in all aspects of information technology and develops the diverse skills necessary for a career in computer games development.Graduates gain an enhanced work-ready expertise in games development, iterative design processes, team project planning and management, and games-specific technology. In doing so, graduates are equipped with a wide range of skills that can be applied to a range of IT careers, such as practical problem-solving skills, the application of theory and cutting-edge research to a real-world context, programming across a variety of languages, professional verbal and written communication, entrepreneurship, life-long learning, and an awareness of the principles of ethics in the IT sector.

In the Bachelor of Marine Biology students explore our ocean environment, the ecological interactions that sustain its biodiversity and how we might best protect it. Learning is centred on practical and field-based experiences, through which students consolidate theoretical concepts and skills that are important for marine research and understanding governance and sustainability.In this course, students gain a thorough understanding of life in marine environments, from the tiny plankton that support all marine life to the top predators that rule the food chain. Students acquire the necessary skills to study sea life and detect and assess detrimental effects on marine ecosystems such as climate change, pollution and human resource use. Field trips undertaken in the latter part of this course are valued for the opportunities to put theory into practice, providing unique experiences through scientific exploration and discovery of the marine environment.

The Bachelor of Business offers students a sound background in all areas of business through common core subjects, in addition to in-depth knowledge in one or more chosen areas of interest.This course provides a basic understanding of important aspects of business with a choice of majors.

This course incorporates midwifery theory, science and clinical practice in a range of health facilities. Graduates of the course are competent midwives who have the skills, knowledge and confidence to practise midwifery according to the international definition of the role and scope of practice of the midwife.This course was the first Bachelor of Midwifery to be introduced in New South Wales. It provides the opportunity to apply for registration as a midwife with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia without having to become a registered nurse beforehand.
