In the Bachelor of Design (Honours) in Photography students learn how to create outstanding images which are linked to the sociocultural context that drives contemporary visual culture.The honours year enables students to explore an independent project through research.With the rapid evolution of the photographic medium due to digital and mobile technologies, images are situated in particular contexts, whether social, cultural or political. In design studios students learn how to recognise these contexts, and use and reinterpret them for their own creative work.Under the guidance of award-winning photographers and researchers, students develop knowledge and skills in traditional and expanded photography, screen-based media, video and moving image. Students have access to state-of-the-art facilities, including darkrooms, specialist colour-managed computer labs and fully equipped photographic studios. Equipment is constantly upgraded to ensure that students only work with the best and latest devices.

This course provides the opportunity for eligible graduates of the Bachelor of Midwifery (C10225) to extend their skills and understanding of the research process. It emphasises the reciprocal relationship between nursing research and the contexts of midwifery practice.This course provides Bachelor of Midwifery graduates with the opportunity to develop training in clinically focused research. The course deepens students' understanding of the importance of research in midwifery.

This course provides the opportunity for eligible graduates of the Bachelor of Health Science (C10360) to extend their skills and understanding of the research process. It emphasises the reciprocal relationship between health research and the contexts of local and global health.This course provides Bachelor of Health Science graduates with the opportunity to develop skills in clinically focused research. The course deepens students' understanding of the importance of research in health.The course places health science research within the professional, philosophical, historical, social, cultural and political contexts of health. The honours program is regarded as a research apprenticeship and requires an extensive commitment from students. It is an opportunity to produce a substantial piece of work, conduct research and/or explore research data in an area of interest at much more depth and more independently than has been possible in previous undergraduate studies.

The Bachelor of Design (Honours) in Architecture offers graduates of the Bachelor of Design in Architecture (C10004) the opportunity to pursue advanced work in subject areas related to architecture and prepares them for postgraduate research.This course also prepares students for advanced study in a Higher Degree by Research program at the PhD level.

The Bachelor of Communication (Honours) offers graduates the opportunity to pursue advanced-level study in communication, social sciences, cultural studies and creative arts. It prepares graduates for higher degree research and professional activity. Emphasis is placed on interdisciplinary approaches and the integration of scholarship with contemporary issues in society and culture.An honours degree in communication provides an excellent opportunity for students to develop their creative practice, research and communication skills. Supported by leading researchers, teachers and creative practitioners, students undertake a program of advanced coursework and produce a project relevant to their academic, professional and/or creative major.

The Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Nanotechnology is a one-year, full-time program undertaken following the completion of the pass degree. The main component of the course is a research project conducted within one of the UTS research groups, or jointly with an external organisation.This course prepares students in aspects of planning and executing a research program to address a specific scientific or technological problem. In addition, two coursework subjects provide detailed knowledge in specific components of nanoscience and nanotechnology.

The Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Applied Physics is a one-year, full-time program undertaken following the completion of the pass degree. The main component of the course is a research project conducted within one of the UTS research groups, or jointly with an external organisation.The course prepares students in aspects of planning and executing a research program to address a specific scientific or technological problem. In addition, two coursework subjects provide detailed knowledge in several areas of contemporary significance in physics and nanotechnology.

The Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Environmental Science offers training in research and introduces advanced areas of study in a range of fields in environmental science including marine biology, environmental forensics and environmental biology.

The Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Applied Chemistry offers training in research and introduces advanced areas of study in applied chemistry.This degree in applied chemistry provides students with an opportunity to get involved in a research program in an area that interests them, as well as providing training in research techniques and experience with modern research instrumentation. The honours program adds a new dimension to the skills students have acquired during their undergraduate years and enhances their immediate employment prospects and future career potential.
