The Bachelor of Computer Science/Master of Information Technology focuses on developing your skills and knowledge in a specialised area of your choice in information technology. As a computer science specialist, your role will be to continue to not only improve technologies vital to the modern world but also educate your community about their importance. You will develop skills and knowledge in the principles and applications of computer science as well as strengthen your problem solving, decision making and communication skills making you a confident and competent candidate for your dream job. During your master's studies, you will focus on three information technology specialisations; software engineering, cyber security, information systems and data science, so you can follow your interests in related fields.

Bachelor of Teaching and Learning (Preservice)

This course prepares students to be teachers in early childhood, primary, middle schooling or Vocational Education and Training sectors (VET in Schools). It is also suitable for preparing students to work at senior levels within the non-school early childhood education and care sector. Students interested in senior secondary teaching should select one of the combined degree options. This course meets both national and local need for teachers of exemplary practice committed to enhancing educational outcomes for all children and young adults. It emphasises improving the teaching-learning relationship in the classroom, raising awareness of issues surrounding Indigenous education and developing an informed, evidence-based approach to learning and teaching in early childhood, primary, middle school and VET settings. People with a trade qualification and experience in a relevant industry who are interested in teaching at secondary and VET level can apply to have their experience and previous qualification recognised and fast-tracked for a VET in Schools qualification. Note: Full Advanced Standing of 140 credit points is only available to tradespeople with five years experience and a Certificate IV in Assessment and Workplace Training with experience preferred at the supervisory level of one year. All applicants must indicate their preferred specialisation by selecting a stream code from the list below. Applicants' chances of selection will not be affected by the stream they choose since the cutoff rank will be the same for all streams. Note: Study streams within this course are not available or appropriate for all students, therefore upon receiving an offer, students should contact the course coordinator regarding choosing an appropriate stream. This course is available in fast-track mode. Students can elect to complete this four-year degree in three years. More information about this option is available on the CDU web site. The course will have a range of flexible multi modal delivery options that will include workshops, Learnline, face-to-face delivery and external.

This combined degree provides students with the generic skills and understanding of humanities and social sciences as well as the qualification to teach at the primary school, middle school or secondary education level. The Arts course includes specialist pathways of study in history and cultural heritage, social science (psychology and sociology), regional and international studies (including south-east Asian studies), languages (Modern Greek, Indonesian and Mandarin) and Indigenous knowledge (Yolngu culture). Combinations of these specialist areas of study provide graduates with distinctive qualifications that lead to interesting and rewarding careers. The course is enhanced by the university's unique location in northern Australia, adjacent to south-east Asia. Employment opportunities include federal, state and territory governments, land councils, museums, non-government agencies and the corporate sector, particularly where these organisations engage with central and northern Australia and Asia. The education course prepares graduates to be teachers in primary, middle or secondary schooling. Its aim is to produce teachers who work effectively within educational contexts that are dynamic and changing. The course meets both national and local needs for teachers of exemplary practice committed to enhancing educational outcomes for all children. It has particular emphasis on improving teaching-learning relationships in the classroom, raising awareness of issues surrounding Indigenous education and developing an informed, evidence-based approach to learning and teaching in diverse education settings. Education units are designed for external as well as internal students and the education course welcomes students from around Australia and overseas. Graduates of this combined degree are awarded both the Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Teaching and Learning.

The Bachelor of Social Work provides students with the knowledge and skills required to work with individuals, families, groups and communities. In particular, students will gain practical skills to work effectively and safely with communities in situations where resources are limited due to geographic location (remoteness), social circumstances, emergency situations or regional disaster. Themes running through the course include multi-disciplinary practice, cross cultural practice and working in virtual contexts. Students will exit the four year program with eligibility for membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW) and with practical skills based on the entry/application requirements of organisations a diverse range of human services including child protection, income support, community health, community development, counselling, youth work, mental health, hospital social work, school counsellor (NT) and corrections.

Students enrolled in the BSCI will be able to continue to re-enrol however consideration should always be given to transferring to the latest course version. *** This course enables students to study towards science career options supported by the School of Environment and the School of Psychological and Clinical Sciences. This course offers flexibility and diversity with a focus on gaining professional experience, whether as a biologist, ecologist, spatial scientist, biomedical scientist, nutritionist, chemist or in other science fields. Field and laboratory experiences expose students to the distinctive environments and communities of northern Australia and the region, and their associated challenges in environmental management and public health, including Indigenous health. Students can study externally or internally and may choose to integrate studies from a variety of areas outside of traditional science disciplines into their science degree. A range of options for pathways to courses offered by Flinders University, James Cook University and Australian National University (ANU) are also available. Graduates are equipped to demonstrate and apply an understanding of their chosen areas of science, including concepts, theories and principles to practise in real situations. Students also become effective problem-solvers able to think globally, apply logical and critical thinking, apply an understanding of scientific and technological factors, and consider issues from various cultural, economic and other societal perspectives. A Bachelor of Science from CDU opens up a wide range of career options in industry, government and the community sector.

As a pharmacist, you are responsible for providing information, advice, and education on medicines and health issues helping patients achieve optimal health care. You also advise medical practitioners and other healthcare professionals on the interactions and side effects of medications, medication selection and dosage, and a range of other health-related issues. During your course, you will develop your knowledge and skills in areas such as the chemical, physical, and biological properties of drugs, how medications work, their usage, and their clinical effects. You will also have the opportunity to participate in practical activities and complete a pre-registration internship at an Australian pharmacy. This course meets the demands for Pharmacy services and research in Australia with additional focus on rural and remote practice to meet the unique and diverse needs of communities in these regions. Pharmacists graduating from the Bachelor of Pharmacy Honours will have research experiences that allow them to continue research in broad fields that include but not limited to new medications discovery to best pharmacy practice.

Pharmacists are healthcare professionals with in-depth skills and knowledge in using medicine to ensure people achieve optimal health outcomes. As part of the healthcare team, pharmacists also provide information and recommendations to doctors, nurses and other healthcare professionals regarding the selection of the best medicine, dosages and how to manage side effects. Bachelor of Pharmacy at CDU is a four-year degree that is accredited by the Australian Pharmacy Council. You will develop your knowledge and skills in the following areas: Problem-solving and personal and professional communication skills Pharmacy practice including experiential learning in real pharmacies (application of knowledge and skills to help people get the best outcomes from medicines) The ability to develop an individual healthcare plan for patients with complex conditions, focusing on self-management Nationally recognised Mental Health First Aid Australia certificate Ability to administer injections including vaccinations These skills are underpinned by an in-depth understanding of the following sciences: Chemistry and Medicinal Chemistry (structure of medicines) Anatomy and Physiology (how the body grows) Biochemistry and Genomics (how the body grow) Pharmacology and Pharmacotherapeutics (how medicines work in the body) Pharmaceutics (designing and making medicines) Microbiology (how the bugs grow in the body) The CDU Pharmacy course has an emphasis on Indigenous health, as well as practising pharmacy in challenging environments, for example in rural and remote communities. You will have opportunities to practice your pharmacy and professional counselling skills in urban, rural and remote settings.You can undertake your placements in the community and/or hospital (pending availability) pharmacies, or the Aboriginal Medical Services. In addition, there are also Interprofessional Learning (IPL) opportunities with the nursing students from CDU, medical students from the Flinders University Northern Territory Medical Program, and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Primary Health Care Practitioners (at the Bachelor Institute).
