You’ll explore a variety of classical, contemporary and digital techniques in painting and drawing. You’ll learn to combine your technical, creative and conceptual skills to develop a body of work in one or more arts forms. This course will give you a sound understanding of art theory and history. Taught by established and practising artists, this course also includes guest speakers who will talk about their work and art practice. Gallery visits will form part of your studies. You’ll also gain valuable industry knowledge about developing sustainable professional practice and providing freelance services.

You’ll learn the practical and technical skills to apply specialised make-up for: feature film and television productions fashion and wedding photography theatre music videos runway media special effects body art and facepainting events. Extend your knowledge as a make-up artist by learning sketching, presenting of photographic portfolios in print and digital format, sculpting, body art, and airbrushing. You’ll also learn to create and style wigs and hairpieces. We will ensure you have all the skills to succeed as a make-up/hair stylist or designer in the creative industries. In this course, you’ll gain an understanding of business plans, marketing and client interactions in the industry. This course will give you the technical skills and knowledge to produce artwork for commercial purposes using both traditional and electronic methods. You’ll develop a sound understanding of the design process and be ready to solve a range of visual communication problems. During your studies, you’ll learn to create design concepts from a brief both efficiently and economically. You’ll build your personal portfolio while developing specialist skills for advertising and multimedia in: digital design illustration calligraphy layout typography context. You’ll also become proficient in the use of industry-standard software including Adobe Illustrator, InDesign, and Photoshop.

Written communication skills are highly desired in today’s workforce. During this course you will develop broad and transferable writing skills that will allow you to work across many areas of the media, including: print publications digital forums and websites television and film advertising and marketing materials social media press releases technical documents. During this course you will gain knowledge and skills in: performing advanced writing and editing tasks writing advanced fiction and nonfiction materials undertaking project work and developing works for publication knowledge of the creative arts industry and working as a freelance editor or writer. You will also learn to market your work, as well as discover what roles and opportunities are available to a professional writer or editor.  

This qualification is offered with specialisations in sound production and performance. SOUND PRODUCTION SPECIALISATION Discover the world of sound recording and gain essential skills in live sound, studio recording, Pro Tools, Logic, Ableton Live and Reason. Areas of study include: music technology studio recording and mixing live audio operations and mixing sound editing. PERFORMANCE SPECIALISATION Extend your music performance skills and learn music fundamentals, including: performance preparation (soloist and group) stagecraft skills instrumental techniques music theory music demo recording and mixing. You will have dedicated one-on-one instrument/vocal sessions with your teachers and attend performance workshops. You’ll also gain practical experience through collaborative projects with students, industry professionals, and community organisations.

You will learn about design concepts and how to select suitable techniques and media to communicate your ideas. Through the development of your own creative project, you will learn how to: devise design solutions interpret and respond to a design brief integrate colour theory and design process produce drawings to communicate ideas refine 3-D design ideas and processes research and apply techniques for the design of wearable objects author interactive media. On completion, you will have a solid understanding of technical and conceptual design and have the knowledge to take design concepts through to finished art stage. You can choose to pathway into Diploma of Graphic Design or Diploma of Visual Arts from this course.

Building surveyors are responsible for interpreting and enforcing laws and regulations controlling building and construction. This course provides training in building theory and surveying related to residential, industrial and commercial buildings of up to three storeys. You’ll learn about building surveying procedures and practices, and develop specialist skills and knowledge in: plan assessment construction methods, technology and materials inspection regulatory laws & compliance requirements business management. With a current shortage of registered building surveyors, you’ll be well placed for a career in Australia’s growing construction industry.

This course will teach you the principles, techniques and regulations of the building industry for all types of medium-rise and wide-span buildings, up to 25 metres high. You’ll learn to take responsibility for coordinating the complete construction of a residential, industrial or commercial building. Learning from industry proessionals, you’ll develop specialist skills and knowledge to run a small-to-medium construction business. You’ll learn about: quantity surveying planning and scheduling of labour and materials selecting contractors managing project risk and quality supervising work sites construction technology managing workplace safety small business finance. This qualification will also help you to meet the licensing/registration requirements to become a registered builder.

This course is designed for registered plumbers and final-year apprentices looking to extend their technical skills and knowledge. You’ll be prepared to gain your plumbing licence with the Victoria Building Authority (external link) (VBA), subject to passing the VBA exam. Through classroom teaching and work-based tasks, you’ll be equipped to manage and design plumbing projects. This course includes studies in: drainage systems – roof, sanitary and stormwater water supply gas installations mechanical services reading plans and specifications estimating work costs. You’ll graduate with a nationally-recognised qualification, ready to operate as a contractor plumber or to start your own plumbing business.
