The Graduate Certificate in Biofabrication is a unique offering for students interested in new additive biofabrication methods for medical applications. If you want to take a lead role in next generation industries, like 3D printing body parts and regenerative medicine then this degree will be of interest to you.The program includes advanced coursework in methods of biofabrication and their application to health and medicine. Fundamental topics and methodologies that will be covered include: printable materials and their properties; biopolymers and bio-inks; 3D printing techniques and instrumentation such as rapid prototypers, reactive printers, extrusion printers, metal printers, bioplotters and live cell printing; Students will gain experience in software design and CT image extraction in work-flow processes in biofabrication. Independently-driven activities will enable students to freely design and create 3D structures and objects and critically evaluate their potential for innovative technology, commercial and business opportunities.

The Graduate Certificate in Autism is specifically designed to provide professionals and parents in multidisciplinary areas with the knowledge and skills required to support the successful learning and employment of individuals on the autism spectrum in a variety of school, home and community settings. Students in this program will review the current research on perspectives and supports for individuals on the autism spectrum. Students will be guided in analysing and applying this research to implement effective learning and employment programs and to establish community and societal policies and structures to frame these programs. Students will also have an opportunity to explore the latest research and knowledge in relevant areas such as the use of technology, collaborative communities of practice, leadership, transitions, and aetiology and biology of autism spectrum disorder.

Graduate Certificate in Indigenous Trauma and Recovery Practice will respond to issues that have particular relevance in Indigenous communities in Australia. It will provide specific skills so that graduates can work from a trauma informed approach. It is a multi-disciplinary program where students will apply critical thinking, collaborative practices and judgement when working individually and within communities across service provision with children, families and communities who may have experienced trauma. Most importantly the course will focus on applying Indigenous social, and emotional wellbeing principles, practices and healing frameworks. Utilising Aboriginal and western concepts of trauma, this course focuses on the contributing factors to experiences of trauma, considering historical, cumulative impact of trauma and current day experiences. This course focuses on the impacts of racism and other factors that can have major health implications on Indigenous Australians, including the pathophysiology and clinical aspects of the body response to trauma. Additionally, this course will assist students with the skills to respond to trauma in individuals and communities, while also being able to provide services that are trauma informed.

Maritime Studies deals with policy, law and security issues related to the world’s oceans. It addresses these issues in the contexts of the importance of the sea for trade, a source of both living and non-living marine resources, as an important natural environment, and as both a source of international political tensions and cooperation. The Graduate Certificate in Maritime Studies is designed to meet the early or mid-career education requirements of maritime professionals working in a policy or operational context, or those who intend to pursue a career in a maritime or related field.This degree provides a broad understanding of the law of the sea, ocean governance and maritime security. The UOW Graduate Certificate in Laws (Criminal Practice) is the only program of its kind in Australia.This program is for lawyers working in (or aspiring to work in) criminal practice as a prosecutor or defence lawyer. It attracts practitioners from across Australia, New Zealand and PNG. You will gain practical experience in a supported environment, applying your legal knowledge to case scenarios.
