Back to top Program aims Bachelor of Business and Commerce The Bachelor of Business and Commerce is a professionally-oriented degree program. The aim of the program is to produce graduates who are equipped to identify, describe, analyse and resolve business problems in both the public and private sectors. Successful completion of the program will equip graduates with the skills and knowledge required to undertake employment in relevant professions. Bachelor of Information Technology The Bachelor of Information Technology is a vocationally-oriented program which emphasises problem solving through the use of information technology. This program focuses on the effective analysis development and management of information and communication technologies in organisations. The program’s foundation is designed to provide students with knowledge and skills in key areas of IT as well as professionally relevant knowledge, qualities and skills in such areas as problem solving, project management, teamwork, communication and ethics.

Back to top Program aims The program aims to produce graduates who have: a broad and coherent body of knowledge in their specific creative discipline cognitive skills with which to critically analyse, consolidate and synthesise a variety of creative and expressive knowledges ability to activate and develop critical thinking and judgement in identifying and solving problems with intellectual independence effective communication through presenting clear, coherent and independent articulation of knowledge and ideas demonstrated the ability to plan, adapt knowledge and skills and make decisions in diverse practical, creative and scholastic contexts taken responsibility and accountability for their own learning in collaboration with others within broad parameters.

Back to top Program aims The program aims to produce graduates who have advanced specific discipline knowledge and skills. Students will acquire the ability to research independently, apply theory and develop academic expertise in their chosen fields. The program will extend students' appreciation of the cultural contributions offered by the creative arts to local and regional communities in Australia. In addition to these generic aims, each discipline within the program has specific aims: Film, Television & Radio: The program enables students to undertake both traditional and hybrid pathways with emphasis placed on practice-led and theoretical debates that will enhance each student’s Honours degree, leading into postgraduate study and professional outcomes. Music: The program aims to produce graduates who have specialised and advanced training in the areas of music performance. They will also have the intellectual and practical skills necessary to apply knowledge in further study, research, employment and community service. Theatre: The program aims to produce graduates who will have an advanced understanding of the nature and impact of drama and theatre in human society who will be proficient in critical analysis and problem solving relating to the theory and performance of dramatic texts and to the intersection between theory and practice. Visual Arts: The program aims to produce graduates who have an advanced understanding of visual arts theory and practice. They will be able to articulate and sustain an academic and professional analysis in relation to a range of issues involving the arts, culture and society both historical and contemporary. Both traditional and hybrid pathways place emphasis on practice-led and theoretical debates that will enhance each student’s Honours degree, leading into postgraduate study and professional outcomes.

Bachelor of Biomedical Sciences (BBSC)

Back to top Program aims The Bachelor of Biomedical Sciences aims to provide education and training for a career in biotechnology, medical research, pharmaceutical and diagnostic companies, and public health laboratories. Graduates will have a broad education allowing them to diversify after graduation, including seeking entry via the Graduate Medical School Admissions Test (GAMSAT) into medicine and other professional programs in the allied health sciences. Students will be eligible to apply for membership to professional organisations including The Australian Society for Microbiology, Australian Society for Biochemistry and Molecular Biology and the Australian Society for Medical Research.

Back to top Program aims The Bachelor of Aviation is a professional program that aims to provide an in-depth understanding of the principles and concepts of the aviation system, its components, aircraft operations, and support and enabling processes. In addition, the program aims to equip graduates with a broad and coherent understanding of human performance issues within the aviation system. Graduates in the Flying Operations major will be provided with the requisite flying skills and knowledge to meet the Civil Aviation Safety Authority requirements of the Australian Commercial Pilot Licence and Instrument Rating or international equivalent.

Bachelor of Arts (Honours) (BAHN)

Back to top Program aims The Bachelor of Arts (Honours) aims to extend student knowledge of their specialisation through higher-level coursework subjects and an independent research thesis. The thesis requires students to devise a question and research it with the guidance of a supervisor. The program will actively develop the skills required for research and scholarship at a higher level, such as a research Masters or PhD, and/or in applying knowledge in employment or community service. It will further enhance students’ personal, cultural, creative and intellectual skills in analysis and communication. An Honours degree is recognised internationally as extending intellectual depth and skills in research, analysis and writing.
