In our youth work degree, you'll learn to help young people develop through activities that are enjoyable, challenging and educational. Our Youth Work degree is the largest in Australia, and is delivered by experts in the field. Industry participants with a Diploma can choose to upgrade to a Bachelor of Youth Work degree whilst working in industry, with our National Youth Work Bachelor of Youth Work online.

If you’d like to help others resolve social problems, as well as further human rights, social justice and social development, then VU’s Bachelor of Social Work could be for you. This course will give you in-depth understanding of: interpersonal and group work community development policy analysis social research social action. You’ll gain the skills and knowledge to develop the potential of individuals, groups and communities – and during your course, you’ll put these insights to use across two industry-based placements. This training and expertise will prepare you for a challenging and rewarding career in a number of settings from federal and state government or hospitals to non-government or community organisations. You’ll graduate as a professional social worker, equipped with the skills to truly change people’s lives for the better, and you will be eligible for membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers.

Follow your interest in the changing media landscape, in industries that include film, television, radio, screen culture, online and mobile media production. You’ll develop new media production skills, techniques and knowledge (including intellectual property) through a combination of practical and theoretical learning. This course has a highly contemporary focus, preparing you to deliver innovative media content for online distribution, video-on-demand, streaming sites such as YouTube, television and radio. You’ll learn from teachers who are directly involved in the media industry. Working creatively as individuals, and in teams, you will produce: cross-platform projects motion graphics and visual effects narrative film non-fiction short films and documentaries podcasts television and radio programs.

You’ll spend the first three years of the program focusing on psychology and social research methods, and will undertake a minor in an arts specialisation. In the fourth (Honours) year, you’ll pursue advanced studies in quantitative and qualitative social research methods, professional practice units and a research thesis. You’ll graduate with an in-depth knowledge of human emotion and behaviour to understand why we think and behave in the way we do – and why this differs from one individual to the next. On completion of the Bachelor of Psychology (Honours), you’ll be able to apply for registration as a Provisional Psychologist and take up further career and post-graduate study options.

Combine psychology studies with a business specialisation to develop insights into people’s behaviour on an individual and organisational level. This double degree will help you apply key psychology principles in the workplace, giving you the confidence and expertise to understand and manage a range of stakeholders from teammates and clients to customers and employers. Through VU’s Bachelor of Psychological Studies/Bachelor of Business, you’ll learn how to: establish employee development programs advise management on employee relations lead organisational change analyse consumer behaviour. These skills will help you further your career opportunities within: community service organisations human resource departments marketing research agencies banking and financial institutions government departments.

In this psychology course you’ll study everything to do with people - from why we behave in the way that we do, to the different ways we communicate in our relationships. You'll learn about people's motivations, thought processes and interactions, which will ready you for a career in diverse areas including community services, marketing or teaching.

This course focuses on popular and contemporary music, including international perspectives. You’ll develop your music knowledge, technical fluency, and creativity. Through practice, cultural analysis and critical listening, you’ll discover an inspiring variety of musical styles. Areas of study include: music performance music theory song writing and arranging popular music culture and history music technology. Alongside your collaborative projects with other VU students, you'll have the chance to work with some of the city's industry professionals and community organisations. You’ll also have access to cutting-edge music technology and our commercial recording facilities at Kindred Studios (external link) . All students should be able to read music notation. If you’ve studied music performance, or worked as a musician, you may be eligible for advanced standing, and credits towards your degree.

In our Exercise Science (Clinical Practice) degree, you'll develop a solid understanding of the science that underpins sport and exercise.
