The Graduate Diploma of Creative Therapies will provide you with a sound theoretical and practical foundation in creative therapies - therapies that include art, play, dance, drama, and music. Specifically, this course has been designed to equip practitioners who work with diverse client groups to utilise creative therapies in your practice. This course also imparts the necessary skills in research, evaluation, and professional practice to enable you to choose suitable therapies and to accommodate the unique challenges of each client. The course blends Western approaches with Aboriginal healing practices and knowledges. The course is designed for people working in health, community, justice, education, and cognate fields as well as individuals who work in Aboriginal and cross-cultural communities.

The Graduate Diploma of Clinical Nursing is designed to extend knowledge gained through undergraduate nursing studies and to develop foundation research skills. The course provides evidence-based practice, leadership skills and principles, and managing professional development. Principles inherent in a cultural safety framework underpin the course to highlight the centrality of quality and safety in health care. It is expected that you will already be employed or have recent experience as a nurse. As part of this course, you will undertake assessments which have direct applications to your professional practice and context. On completion of this course, you may progress to the master's qualification specific to your discipline, with advanced standing for completed studies.

This course builds up skills in interpreting health information, including epidemiology, statistical analysis, quantitative and qualitative research methods. Specialising in either public health practice, Indigenous health or global health, you will focus on designing and evaluating public health interventions, aimed at prevention, protection and promotion of health in the community.

You will strengthen your knowledge in health research design specifically in Indigenous, local and global health contexts. This course builds up skills in interpreting health information, including epidemiology, statistical analysis and qualitative research methods preparing you for public health roles in your community.

As a Registered Nurse, this course will build upon your current skills and knowledge to enable you to work in a speciality area of clinical nursing, including: acute care cancer chronic conditions emergency intensive care mental health orthopaedics paediatrics perioperative renal. You will also focus on cultural awareness in the health practice context and build on existing knowledge and understanding of nursing practice, assessment and evidence-based practice. In the increasingly complex and challenging world of health care, this course provides an opportunity to enhance your existing clinical knowledge and build capacity to move into further study and research. The course focuses on development of knowledge and skills in clinical practice and intellectual engagement through critical analysis and reflection relevant to nursing practice and education. All applicants must select a preferred clinical speciality from the list of options available.

This course provides an opportunity to deepen and broaden your knowledge of caring for children and families, in a variety of health care and community environments. Throughout the course, you will continue to strengthen your understanding of growth monitoring and developmental assessments, the importance of psychosocial assessment and the central role of parents in the child's environment. You will also learn how to promote and maintain connections with other services as you prepare to work in partnership with families in a strengths-based model as opposed to the traditional problem-oriented models. This course prepares you to practise as a professional child and family health clinician who is: sensitive to the cultural needs of consumers in urban, rural and remote environments reflective practitioner, skilled in consuming and conducting research and evidence-based enquiries. You will build on professional experiences and reflect and critique knowledge, skills and attitudes about evidence, research and literature and apply this to a practical setting.

Applications for this course in Semester 2 2020 have closed as at 16 June 2020. You will be introduced to the life and languages of the Yolngu people in north east Arnhem Land gaining invaluable insight into the complexity of Indigenous societies found elsewhere in Australia. This course concentrates on Yolngu Matha (Yolngu language) forms of Dhuwala, and you will learn the everyday conversation version of the language, building on grammar and basic vocabulary, which will help if you decide to continue learning other Yolngu languages. Key areas you will also explore are Moiety systems, various aspects of kinship, Yolngu life, creation stories, songs, art and ceremonies and how they are related. Higher Education Relief Package Charles Darwin University is offering this Graduate Certificate as part of the suite of university short courses subsidised by the Commonwealth Government.
