Master of Counselling

You'll gain experience in adult, child and adolescent counselling, focusing your learning on: counselling and psychological theory counselling interventions and psychological therapies (for adults, children, adolescents and families) practical skills through industry-based learning and placement. Accredited by the Australian Counselling Association (ACA), the Master of Counselling covers: insights into a range of presenting issues, including depression, anxiety, grief, loss and addictions an understanding of the ethics of counselling the completion of a practice-based minor thesis. Master of Clinical Exercise Science and Rehabilitation

You'll learn to assess and prescribe exercise and physical activity for people with chronic conditions or complex care needs. This course will prepare you to work in the community and in clinical settings with people who have: musculoskeletal injuries neurological conditions metabolic conditions cardiovascular conditions various comorbidities. Our program follows a strong evidence-based teaching approach to the scope of practice of clinical exercise physiology. To consolidate your theoretical learning, you will gain significant practical experience in clinical placements. You will graduate with the knowledge, skills and experience to work as an exercise physiologist. There is also an optional research component embedded in this course that will prepare you academically for a PhD pathway. Master of Applied Psychology (Clinical Psychology)

Become a professional clinical psychologist working with children, adolescents and adults when you study the Master of Applied Psychology (Clinical Psychology). You'll study a range of assessments, therapies and rehabilitation techniques and undertake clinical field placements in agencies across Melbourne. As part of your professional training you'll also see clients at the VU Psychology Clinic. This program has a strong emphasis on both cognitive and psychodynamic therapeutic perspectives. The course provides an APAC-accredited pathway to practice as a fully-registered professional psychologist. In addition, appropriately-qualified applicants can continue postgraduate training in the area of Clinical Psychology. Graduates qualify for registration as a psychologist in Victoria and membership of the Australian Psychological Society (APS) (external link) . Master of Applied Psychology (Community Psychology)

Pursue a career as a community psychologist with the Master of Applied Psychology (Community Psychology). You'll be part of a vibrant learning environment where your psychology skills and knowledge will be directed towards applied community psychology. This course is founded upon the scientist-practitioner model of professional training. Two key elements of the model are: combined knowledge and skills acquisition with reality-based psychological understandings facilitation of a clear stance of inquiry in relation to all aspects of theory, research and practice. You'll undertake a combination of theoretical coursework, skill-based practice coursework, practicum placements and an applied community psychology focused research project. Graduating students will have completed 1000 hours of supervised practical placement experience.
