The Master of Criminology by Research enables you to further explore aspects involving criminal law, forensic psychiatry, drug policy and the law, gender and race relations, youth and crime, policing in society, and other social and cultural aspects of criminal justice.The Master of Criminology is available full-time up to two years or part-time over four years and is awarded on the basis of a supervised thesis of 50,000 words.The thesis must make a substantial contribution to the knowledge of the subject concerned. Candidates are also required to undertake the compulsory research-support unit of study, LAWS6077 Legal Research 1.

Master of Applied Science - Research

The Faculty of Medicine and Health has re-developed the Master of Philosophy and Doctor of Philosophy. From 2021, the Doctor of Philosophy and Master of Philosophy will be delivered under one new central name and course code. Both degrees are now available for application for 2021 commencement. The new courses will aim to offer greater research flexibility and interdisciplinary learning across all faculty areas of study. This course allows students to conduct high-impact, multidisciplinary research that spans across our broad priority research areas of: cancer diagnosis and rehabilitation; communication sciences and disorders; disability and mental health; musculoskeletal health; and physical activity, lifestyle, ageing and well-being. You will work with leaders in allied health and gain advanced research and critical thinking skills that will expand your career prospects. This course may be used as a foundation to the Doctor of Philosophy (Health Sciences).The Master of Applied Science (MappSc) at the Faculty of Health Sciences provides candidates with the opportunity to undertake in-depth study in a specialised area, while enjoying an independent style of learning and freedom of expression in academic enquiry.The Faculty of Health Sciences has been ranked a level 5 for excellence in research, which is considered "well above world standardin the 2015 ERA rankings.You will work individually on your research project under the direction of a supervisor who is a leader in the allied health field.Across the 1-2 year research period, you will gain advanced research and critical thinking skills that will see you publish work in journals, influence health policy and expand your career prospects particularly in industrial research, government, and developmental organisations.

Science Postgraduate Non-Degree

If you wish to undertake one or more units of study for your own interest, or for other reasons, you may enrol in single units as a non-award student. Admission as a non-award student is assessed on an individual basis.Non-degree students pay full tuition fees to undertake a unit of study (subject) offered in the Faculty of Science without being enrolled in an award course (degree). If you would like to apply for non-degree study, you should consult the Faculty of Science Handbook to identify units of study in which you would like to enrol at the University of Sydney.You should only enrol in postgraduate non-degree study if the subjects you wish to study are at postgraduate level (ie. 4XXX level or higher).Please note, postgraduate non-degree study is advisable only after consultation with the unit coordinator.

Pharmacy Postgraduate Non-Degree

We cater to more than 20 areas of specialisation as well as offering a number of specialised units of study, with units taught by our own experts as well as by international visitors.If you are not ready to commit to undertaking a full award course but have an interest in studying our coursework units, you can start with enrolment in single units of study. On successful completion, you may apply for admission to a master’s degree or graduate diploma. Credit may be granted for relevant units of study previously completed.

Non-award unit fees are calculated in proportion to the fixed fee applicable at the time for a full-time load.Non-award unit selection is subject the availability and therefore may not be offered in all sessions advertised in the faculty handbook.
