The program has micro- and nano-engineering course offerings covering fundamentals, design, fabrication, and applications to provide students with a cohesive and comprehensive learning experience. The program structure is underpinned by a very strong research focus, multidisciplinary scope, and established research strengths in the disciplines related to micro- and nano-engineering at RMIT University which have been rated as above world standard (Excellence in Research for Australia 2012).The program objectives are:To develop a graduate’s knowledge of MicroNano engineering from fundamentals all the way to applications by providing design, simulation, and hands-on micro/nano-fabrication experiences. A research methods component (BIOL2411 Research Methods) will equip you with skills to appraise aspects of NanoSmart research in order to generate solutions to complex problems in the NanoSmart field. Importantly you will gain practical experience of advanced nanotechnology research applications in a series of small group immersion activities in different, cutting edge nanotechnology environments at RMIT and offsite (ONPS2498 Advanced Nanotechnology) as a capstone Work Integrated Learning (WIL) course.The Graduate Diploma in Nanotechnology and Smart Materials (GD185) program requires in person attendance.

As Urban Design is positioned at the intersection of several urban disciplines, such as planning, architecture, landscape architecture and development, this program advances the role of design research and innovative design practice in confronting the many, critical issues affecting cities. Speculating about the future of cities in light of increasing environmental, social and economic change, for example, is a primary objective.
