The Bachelor of Nursing course is taught by high profile award-winning educators and researchers as well as experienced practicing clinicians. We use a blend of e-learning and face-to-face approaches to engage, inspire and challenge students and our clinical simulation facilities and the diverse clinical placements experiences provided ensure that students develop high level clinical and critical thinking skills. A wide choice of elective third year subjects allows students to sample different nursing specialties including emergency nursing, theatre, paediatrics, community and primary healthcare, aged care and mental health.By focusing on the high-level conceptual thinking and problem-solving practices that lead to the development of innovative, creative and entrepreneurial outcomes, students of the combined degree also gain leading edge capabilities that are highly valued in the globalised world, including dealing with critical and creative thinking, invention, complexity, innovation, future scenario building and entrepreneurship, and the ability to work on their own across disciplines. This combined degree prepares students to teach in schools from kindergarten to year 6, ensuring they are well equipped to meet the challenges of local and international teaching. It is a practice-based course that aims to produce high-quality graduates through an integrated program combining the latest educational theory with professional experience. In the fourth year, students undertake a year of in-country study at an overseas university.The degree is for students who want a strong practice-oriented teacher education qualification and the benefit of learning and studying another language and culture, which includes a year living overseas studying in their country of choice. It may appeal to students who want an international study experience or are aiming for an international career.

The Bachelor of Economics offers students the analytical and quantitative skills required for an in-depth understanding of key economic principles. The degree complements this knowledge with the option of majors across selected business disciplines.The course includes training in econometrics, macroeconomics and microeconomics with an emphasis on practical policy. A capstone subject synthesises knowledge from game theory, experimental economics and industrial organisation to study policy-making in real-world settings.

The Bachelor of Advanced Science is designed specifically to develop student learning using an inquiry-oriented and research-immersion model. Students engage in a number of research project subjects based on their chosen major, which include environmental biotechnology; pharmaceutical sciences; and pre-medicine. Students are placed with world-leading research scientists and learn 'on the job', actively mentored in research teams learning theory through real-time application and solving real-world problems. More than just a work placement, this course is a holistic learning experience designed to train the next generation of scientists and health professionals.Environmental Biotechnology major: This major combines biology and engineering, in order to manage microbes that impact upon the environments that we depend upon (including bioremediation, mine waste management), as well as using microbes to solve problems that can lead to commercial end products, such as biofuels, pharmaceuticals, nutraceuticals, or agricultural feedstocks. The diversity of microbes with novel traits is immense: a new style of scientist with a specialist background is needed to not only bioprospect these habitats and identify which microbes can be used to solve environmental challenges, but also to solve increasingly complex issues in a sustainable way. This involves thinking of the biological possibilities, the commercial feasibility, and the engineering requirements necessary to solve an issue. This requires a broad set of skills, and increasingly, cross-disciplinary thinking. Students develop advanced skills in bioinformatics, microbial ecology, as well as the fundamental sciences to prepare them for an exciting career in the ever expanding field of biotechnology, having a specific focus on environmental applications and solutions to the changing globe. Pre-Medicine major: This major is distinguished by its strong focus on practices and theory that underlie both medical research and the health professions. The aim is to optimally prepare graduates for health professional careers, including post-graduate medical degree. Pharmaceutical Sciences major: Students learn practises and concepts that are critical for pharmaceutical science progressions. This major is also designed to facilitate an entry pathway to the Master of Pharmacy (C04252).

The Bachelor of Biomedical Physics is a multi-disciplinary degree that combines both biomedical science with physics applications. Some of the most challenging and rewarding applications of physics are in the area of biomedical physics. There is a broad range of applications for biomedical physics in areas such as radiation oncology, medical imaging and radiation safety. Knowledge of biomedical physics can be applied to instrument development, from magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) to simple glucose monitors or therapeutic agents based on nanoparticles.This course provides students with skills and expertise that equip them to participate in the rapidly growing area at the interface between physics and biomedicine. Students gain advanced experimental, analytical and computational skills as well as an understanding of how the body works at a cellular and organ level. Students explore the biomedical applications of physics, ranging from the use of nanoparticles as diagnostic and therapeutic agents to medical imaging and diagnostic instrumentation.

This course offers a sound education in all aspects of computing and information technology for students who intend to make a career in the profession, as well as providing a pathway to honours, postgraduate study and a research career.The course adopts a practice-based approach to IT education. Its content is designed with a mix of theory and practice. As well as gaining strong technical skills in IT, students gain skills in problem-solving, teamwork and communication. Employers look for graduates with industry experience and, in this course, students are exposed to real IT problems and apply classroom learning on the job through the Diploma in Information Technology Professional Practice.

The Bachelor of Management Bachelor of Arts in International Studies is offered jointly by Business and International Studies. The degree integrates the study of business management with a major in the language and culture of another country.

With majors available in digital creative enterprise, events, sport business and tourism, the UTS Bachelor of Management has been developed to reflect the growing importance of creative and experience-based industries in Australia's economic future. These industries are at the forefront of a globalised, digitalised and dynamic external environment where innovation and creativity are key.The Bachelor of Management provides an integrated exposure to professional practice through dynamic and multifaceted modes of practice-oriented education, with built-in internships. Offshore partnerships with established UTS university partners are employed to allow students the option to engage with the UTS exchange program in their fourth session. Offshore and onshore partnerships with industry link students with internships, industry projects, graduate employment, field visits and in-class case studies.

The Bachelor of Business Administration focuses on applying theories to business practice and the overall management of an organisation. The course takes into account cultural diversity, experiences and aspirations of community members, and ethical standards for managing enterprise initiatives. Students learn how a multidisciplinary perspective can be used to address economic, financial and social issues, including those relevant to the Indigenous community.This course prepares students for a career in business management by providing a thorough understanding of the core functions of management and business administration. Students are given the opportunity to explore various divisions and responsibilities of an organisation and how to operate effectively in a dynamic global business environment. An emphasis is placed on decision-making and problem-solving, cognitive analytical skills to synthesise organisational knowledge in diverse contexts, and clearly communicating the ideas and solutions developed through a creative process.

The Bachelor of Laws Bachelor of Creative Intelligence and Innovation is an innovative UTS degree with a focus on creating new value through transdisciplinary problem solving.By combining these courses, students learn to solve complex challenges, work collaboratively across and between disciplines, and apply their conceptual and problem-solving expertise beyond traditional professional boundaries.Both degrees are practice-oriented in their design. In the BCII, students use design processes to engage with industry experiences, real-world projects and self-initiated proposals. The law component of this degree offers fieldwork, leadership, mooting and mentoring opportunities, and meets the academic requirements for admission to practise law in NSW. Students can also enrol in the Legal Futures and Technology major, which provides a future-focused look at the technologies shaping the legal profession.By the end of the course, students have the skills to engage in critical and creative thinking, invention, complexity, innovation, future scenario building and entrepreneurship, and the ability to work on their own across disciplines.Graduates have the capacity to take a contemporary and solutions-focused approach to a career in law, or to use their legal expertise as a solid foundation for entrepreneurial, collaborative, strategic or analytical positions across a range of professional sectors.
