This course is the only integrated law and Practical Legal Training (PLT) degree in Sydney, and meets both the academic and practical requirements for admission to practise law in NSW. Like the standard Juris Doctor, this course is an Australian Qualifications Framework Level 9 master's degree that builds knowledge and experience in fundamental legal theory.Students engage with industry-informed, academically rigorous and highly practical courses, choosing from flexible learning options that include day and evening classes (core subjects), block study (selected subjects) and online learning (electives), as well as selected recorded lectures and podcasts. In addition to standard part-time and full-time study modes, students can fast-track their progress by enrolling in Summer sessions to complete the degree in just three years.

The course has been designed to address areas of current need as a result of the increased use of technology within production facilities in the manufacturing sector. The North-West region of Tasmania has long been recognised as a centre for traditional manufacturing. In recent decades, market changes have encouraged local businesses to focus on advanced manufacturing such as the supply of components to original equipment manufacturers (OEM).This course is suited to individuals pursuing a career in the manufacturing industry across a range of roles. The primary roles available to graduates are in design and fabrication, with other positions available within quality control, logistics and project management.The course design and cumulative learning approach is driven by themed problem-based learning projects that have a capstone assessment at the end of the first and second year. It is envisaged these problem-based learning projects may not only facilitate collaboration and placements with industry and opportunities to co-design and deliver projects with industry or work with industry as client, but also strengthen applied knowledge and expose UC students to prospective employers.

The Associate Degree in Applied Science is an industry-focused program designed for people interested in working in fields that require specialised skills and knowledge of applied science principles and processes, including those who may never have considered a career in science. The streams available under this course are: Fermentation and Separation and Sustainable Aquaculture. The Fermentation and Separation stream has been developed for people interested in working in innovative food and beverage industries such as brewing, winemaking, fermented food and drink production, the stream also prepares graduates to learn about the premium bio-industries (essential oils, seaweed based fertilisers, poppies, pyrethrum and biodiesel). Core subjects include applied biology, applied chemistry, data and analysis, quality management and sustainability are integrated with stream subjects such as applied microbiology and fermentation principles and processes. Throughout the course, students can choose four elective subjects to develop their areas of interest.The Aquaculture specialisation is aimed at people who wish to work in the aquaculture industry in Tasmania and mainland Australia. The course was developed in response to industry demand as the aquaculture industry is currently in a high growth phase. Aquaculture subjects are integrated with core subjects in applied science and students choose an additional four elective subjects depending on their areas of interest. Aquaculture is the fastest growing primary industry in Tasmania. The Associate Degree in Applied Science Aquaculture is relevant to all aspects of the Tasmanian industry, including salmon, trout, oysters, mussels and abalone. The Tasmanian aquaculture industry is a world leader in quality, innovation and technology. Currently, an estimated 2,595 Full Time Equivalent (FTE’s) are employed in the Tasmanian aquaculture sector (inclusive of salmon id processing) (*Seafood Industry Workforce Profile, May 2017. Tasmanian Seafood Industry Council).A key feature of the course is the practical component, to provide hands-on learning which aims to enhance students’ problem solving, communication, critical thinking, teamwork, and leadership skills by allowing them to ‘learn through practice’. Industry experts have helped to develop the course and are actively involved in the delivery through teaching, site visits, case studies and work placements. As a result, graduates will be considered ‘workplace ready’ after two years of (full-time) study.The program is available for full-time and part-time study across all campuses in Tasmania and is delivered through a combination of online study, face-to-face classes, practical workshops and tutorials. The Associate Degree in Applied Health and Community Support has been developed in consultation with the health, disability, mental health, aged care, social and community service sectors to address significant changes in service models and consumer expectation. The course has also been developed to meet the projected increases in role complexity and workforce demands in these sectors.This course is suited to school leavers pursuing a career in the health, social or community service sectors or those seeking an alternative career choice in health, disability, mental health, aged care or community services.
